Left Behind Thursday

My brother is in town so I dragged him to the thrift shop and the antique mall yesterday.  We found a few goodies that I will share later, but mostly there was a bunch of overpriced or just plain strange stuff.
I adored this set of t.v trays.  I think there were 6 of them, but the shop wasn't selling them as a set.  No no, they were selling them separately for $14.99 each!  Sorry, but oh hell no!
They also had these.  I like the design on them, but not enough to pay that crazy high price. I was so excited to see these t.v trays because I never run into them, but that price is obnoxious
These Putz houses were in pretty reasonable shape considering how old they are, but she wanted $15 each! Is there something special about these that I just didn't see?
It killed me to leave this lamp behind.  It is so pretty.
"Send in the clowns."  NO, that frightens me.

I'm still bummed about the t.v trays, but not so bummed that I would be willing to pay full price.  Oh well, hopefully I will find some again at a not stupid price.  Tomorrow morning I will be heading up to Denver once again to pick up a brother.  I love having my brothers here!  Sadly, my Aunt broke her leg yesterday, so she won't be able to be here with us for Christmas.  We are so beyond bummed about the entire situation.  Please send good vibes her way, she could totally use them.

My New Favorite Christmas Decoration

Erica over at Golden Egg Vintage recently seems to have had a wild burst of crafty energy, furiously gluing and arranging vintage goodies and doodads.  Her shop is (but won't be for long) stocked full of wonderful original creations and this happy chick jumped at the chance to buy one!
Isn't it just the best little Putz house ever?  Look at all the little details of this house.  The garland trimming out the front, the little bottle brush trees, the "merry" along the bottom, and sweet little candies are all lovely little bits that make this house so special.

A sweet little deer, lazing about in the yard.
A mischievous little pipe cleaner pixie elf dude.
My favorite part though has to be the little spun cotton mushroom.  It really gives the whole house a fun and whimsical feel.
And because she is just so sweet and generous, she tossed in a few little extras!  I love little extras!
I took some of them and made a little collage for my phone.  Thanks Erica!

As you can tell, I am very much in love with this fabulous little house.  Thank you for making it Erica!  I'm going to head over and share it with everyone at It's a Very Cherry World for Rednesday.

Busy, Busy, Busy

The next week or so is going to be nuts!  My twin brother is coming in tomorrow, so up to Denver I will go to retreive him.  A few days after that my younger brother is due to arrive, back up to Denver.  Then my Auntie and Cousin are going to be here the day after that.  Plus Christmas day is going to be at my house, so I have to get everything ready for all those shenanigans.  I'm not complaining, it's going to be super fun, just wicked busy.  Anyway, I've been busy at the thrift shops and the booth because I know my attention is going to be needed elsewhere for a little bit.
Early American isn't my favorite pattern personally, but people love it!  I have sold every one of these pieces.  This one came caked with some kind of goo on the handles, but a long soak in hot soapy vinegar water and a good scrub with BFK solved that problem.
It has been hard to push myself to look for items that aren't Christmas related lately, but it has to be done!  Christmas doesn't last for ever...dangit!  These cast iron owl trivets are absolutely perfect!  This little family will be heading to the booth as soon as possible.  Should I sell them as a family or separate them?

I have been having a good time making jewelry with my vintage button collection, so when I saw these at a good price I couldn't pass them up.  The jar also came with a few good extras.

I think my eyes are trained to spot  good Christmas stuff now, because I spotted these fast.  Then as I tried to act like a normal human and gain my composure, I found 6 more boxes of vintage ornaments.  I had to squash my squeals of delight!  It was tough, but I did it!  This is the coolest box.

I found these things in a few different grab bags.  This is my first deer!  Its fuzzy and I love it!  You can see air bubbles in the glass of that big green bulb.

Things are moving really well and I couldn't be happier!  This is so much freakin fun!

My Early Christmas Present

While The Little Dude was on vacation with Granny and Grandpa, The Husband and I set about redoing the framing around two large windows in our dining room area.  When we first moved in, they had cigarette smoke stained shutters on them which I promptly removed, cleaned and spray painted orange.  It looked pretty cool for a little while actually, but then I got a little tired of looking at all that orange and knowing in the back of my head that the shutters were just covering up the messed up window frames.  So The Husband and I hot in gear and actually finished a project in two days!  That's a first for us.  So now we had these beautiful looking windows, but the whole wall was looking naked without the big pop of color from the orange shutters.  That was when I started to obsess about finding a map.  A BIG one.  This is what we found:
It is a vintage political/physical map of obviously the US, but South America is sneakily hiding behind there too!  I'm kind of a geography dork (kind of a dork in general really) so it totally makes me smile to see it.  Not only is it adding color to a naked area, we are learning when we look at it!  And The Little Dude is going to grow up looking at it.  For that reason, I decided not to get a vintage world map because I didn't want him telling his teacher one day that what she was pointing at is not Russia, but The USSR!
Also, what do you think of my little table display?  That tube in the middle is a Pyrex Bake n' Round full of the Shiny Brites that didn't make it to the booth.  The candy cane place mats were made by yours truly last year with that stiff felt you can get at the craft store.  Everything but the little trains (they came from this etsy shop here) was thrifted.
In other news, my booth is doing really well!  I'm selling Christmas ornaments like crazy.  And my mall has this great system now that sends out an email at the end of the night with a sales report. This is really cool because now I don't have to go in and figure out what I need to restock, then go back home and get it.  I know ahead of time, and that I think is going to be hugely helpful.  How is everyone else doing in your booths or online shops?   Is the holiday season treating you well?

A Few Fabulous Odds and Ends

We finally have some snow!  Not a lot, but hey, we'll take what we can get.  Anyway, it has been a pretty busy week (the Little Dude is finally home!) so I haven't been able to make it to the thrifts much.  Thankfully though, I still have goodies from a few weeks ago to share.
First and foremost is this glorious fan.  It's in great shape, and still works.  Someone has already put on offer on it, but I had to turn it down because I am in love with it.  We're going steady now.  : )

It lives on my shelf so I can adore it every day.  This all sounds silly and slightly scary  but its the coolest thing I have found so far!

This set of glasses is right up there with the fan in coolness.  It is missing one though which is a bummer, but I'm confident I can find a stray glass at the thrifts.  Should I attempt to complete the set of 8 or should it be broken up and sold in one set of 3 and one set of 4?

This super cool promotional Ivy Cinderella Bowl was scored at a "new to me" thrift shop.  They have all their housewares items lined up on the far wall so that when you walk in you have a clear view of that section.  I saw this bowl from afar and had to be careful not to knock any elderly folk down in my frantic run to pick it up.  It looks like it was hardly used.  Who wouldn't use this all the time?!  Its awesome!

And last but not least this little ghost blow mold came home with me.  He didn't work when I tried, but I think it just needs a new bulb.  What is supposed to be in his hands?  A pumpkin?  A bowl?

Hopefully I can get some thrifting done in the next few days.  I also need to give my booth a little love and attention.  And then The Brothers are coming next week, so I'm going to be a busy chick.  I wouldn't have it any other way.  : )

Thrifty Christmas

The past week has been full of lovely vintage Christmas decorations.  So lovely in fact that I have decided I'm going to keep it all for my house!  That's right, I'm hoarding the goods!  At least for now... :)

These items were so squished into one little bag that I didn't really know at first what I was getting.  All I saw was one little elf face, so imagine my little freak out when I saw all of this as I attempted to pull apart the clump.  All this awesomeness in one little bag!  Shut up!

I've seen these Walking Santa's before, but they were generally yucky.  This one looks like it wasn't even used.  Are they supposed to sing songs?  Maybe that's why this one is in good shape, it doesn't sing, just rings his bell.  He is sitting on a beautiful vintage table cloth.  I love the colors!

This little angel is practically untouched.  She looks great on my tree.  I think I will use it this year, then sell it for next year so that our tree looks a little different from year to year.  I love how I can change things around now and not feel bad about wasting money!

He has shifty eyes and may be a little drunk! ; )

The Little Dude comes home in a few days, and I'm so excited!  It has been a productive week around the house and at the booth, but I would take cuddling with him over productivity any day.  I'm joining the parties at Apron Thrift GirlSir Thrift A Lot, and A Living Space.  Have a great week everyone!!!

"Is That An Estate Sale Sign?!" ~Tires Squealing~

Gross, don't look at my sun room windows!
The current thrifting bonanza report must be briefly interrupted so that I can tell you about this great estate sale that I ducked into yesterday.  I was on my way to the thrift store when I saw signs for a sale in a neighborhood that I haven't ventured into a whole lot but I knew was kitschy and old.  After a few dicey moves in my little car, I was on my way to the sale. It was full of mostly fine art and antiques, peppered here and there with some cool vintage pieces and some not so cool blah 90's pieces, all with high prices. I wish I could have gotten pictures, but I could hardly move and every time I paused, an old lady behind me sighed so hard that I thought she was going to use up her oxygen tank prematurely and pass out.
This house was cool because they purchased two condos and made one really big house with two separate garages.  The first one had tools and an awesomely equipped darkroom that I almost cried over; it was glorious!  My dream house has a great big darkroom in the plans.  The second one is where they had shoved all the good vintage stuff!  A set of Amelia Earhart luggage was in great shape, but had a retail price on it so I passed on those.  I picked up the above pictured suitcase mostly because I loved those tags!  And that Butterfly Gold cake dish is the first Pyrex I have ever picked up at an estate sale.  And just because, a little flower frog.
For the first time in a long time, there is something pink in my post so I'm going to head over to How Sweet the Sound for Pink Saturday.  Have a great weekend everyone!

One For Me, One For The Booth

The thrifting the other day was spectacular!  Goodies of all kinds came home with me in just a few hours, and everyone I ran into was in a great mood.  It was a lovely way to turn my frown upside down!  (I had just left The Little Dude with my parents so he could go on vacation, and I cried like a baby.)
These sweet mid-century glasses by Georges Briard were practically tossed into my cart.  That's how much I loved them.  I was able to find eight of them, so I am going to sell them as two sets of four.  I was going to keep them for my house (that way my family has something to drink out of other than beer glasses on Christmas morning) but then I found the following set.

A few feet down the aisle these Luminarc glasses sang to me.  All eight of them will be living at my house, at least for now.  Won't these look fabulous with some Black Snowflake Pyrex?

Which set would you keep?

I found these stainless steel cups, but I don't know much about them.  They are fairly small so I don't think they are for milkshake machines.  It almost seems like they should have something on the outside, like a leather cover.  I saw a few examples of this online, but I'm not sure of it.  Does anyone know anything about these?  I'm going to sell them, but sure would like to know a little more about them.

And last but not least (for this post, trust me, there is more!)  my first spun cotton snowman!  Isn't he fancy looking with his little top hat!  He's going to live on my shelf, maybe even year round.  : )

Now I'm off to join the party at the Common Ground for Vintage Inspiration and then over to My Romantic Home for Show and Tell Friday.  Have a great weekend everyone!

Good Haul For Her First Thrifting Adventure

~ Breathing out a huge sigh of relief~ The dishes are done, ah!!!  For the past two hours I have been ruining my nails and pruning up my hands because between my best bud and I, my counters are full of wonderful trinkets.  The Little Dude went on his adventure with Granny and Grandpa, so I am going to take advantage of this free time (I really miss him, so it's best to keep busy) and get stuff done.  First on the list, clean and price...everything!
But before that happens, check out what The Bud found for me to sell:

She spotted this Snowflake Blue divided dish with its holder and lid.  The dish is in great shape, not a single scratch on it.  They had it marked with three separate prices; one for the lid, the stand  and the dish.  I normally am pretty mum on what I pay, but because she found it, I will tell you that they would have gotten $36 big ones out of her!  Seriously, SERIOUSLY???!!!  Thankfully she is good with words and is charming because she was able to talk them into giving it to her for the price on just one of the tags.  If it was me I would have gotten all sassy and mouthy with them and I would have walked out grumbling and empty handed.

This chick goes out on her first thrifting expedition and she scores Pyrex with the lids and cradles!  It was meant to be!   I might be a sneak and keep the cradle and sell the Golden Acorns dish.

She found more too!  I've never seen Old Town Blue on one of these pitchers before.  And this Butterfly Gold pitcher is in awesome shape.  The Colonial Mist cinderella bowl was pretty dirty and yucky, but a little bit of Bar Keepers Friend made it look like new.

She did such a great job!  I am lucky to have her on my side.

I am gonna keep up this momentum and get some items priced.  I found a ton of awesome stuff today that I will spread out over a few posts.  Before that, I'm joining the parties at Apron Thrift GirlSir Thrift A Lot, and A Living Space.  Have a great rest of the week everyone!!!

Lets Try This Again...

Yesterday Blogger yelled at me for being a storage hog and I didn't get to  finish this ridiculously late Thanksgiving post, so I'm going to try again now that I have figured out my storage situation.  I just bought some more via Google because it was easiest.  Thanks for the tips though guys!

From Yesterday:
Wow, I am a Tardy Tina on this, but better late than never!  Happy Late Thanksgiving, Black Friday (anyone score anything crazy good?) and Small Business Saturday.  We spent the day at The Grandmas house, stuffing our faces and looking through newspaper ads for crap we really didn't need.  It was awesome!  I love those guys!  This is what I brought to the feast:

Gobble Gobble!  Hahaha!  I saw this on Pinterest and decided I needed to make one.  I'm not usually good at this kind of thing, but I think it came out pretty cute.  It is sitting on my new thrifted tray.   It is in the shape of a leaf and has flower engravings on it.  No markings on it though, so I don't know who made it or how old or new it is.

I didn't leave the Pyrex out, no worries : )  A Woodland Cinderella Bowl held the Jalapeno Ranch Dip and the Yellow Casserole (is this a Daisy dish?) held the hummus that The Husband made.  It was sooo yummy!  I usually don't have anything nice to bring stuff in, but this year is different because I am able to borrow from my booth inventory.  Sweet!!!
That is all I have for now.  It has been a busy week, so I haven't been able to do much thrifting.  And it will have to wait a little while longer because The Little Dude it going on vacation with The Mom and her Bobert (her husband, my name for him) so I have to get him ready.  He is so excited to drive for 16 hours (this was their idea by the way.  I think taking a 10 month old on a road trip is nuts, but more power to them!) to go see Great Grandma and Great Grandpa!
I should have a few things to show soon though because my buddy has been thrifting for me!  ~Insert evil laugh here~  I think the thrifty bug has bitten her!  Have a great rest of your weekend!

A Painfully Late Happy Thanksgiving

Wow, I am a Tardy Tina on this, but better late than never!  Happy Late Thanksgiving, Black Friday (anyone score anything crazy good?) and Small Business Saturday.  We spent the day at The Grandmas house, stuffing our faces and looking through newspaper ads for crap we really didn't need.  It was awesome!  I love those guys!  This is what I brought to the feast:

Okay, so scratch that for a sec.  I tried to upload some pictures to blogger and I got this :

Whoops! You're out of space. You are currently using 100% of your 1 GB quota for photos. Upgrade storage
Photos are stored in your Picasa Web Albums account and are included in your 1 GB free quota for photos. Additional storage you purchase is shared between several Google products and is in addition to your free quota. Learn more
So....I don't really know what I'm supposed to do about that. I guess I never thought about running out of space on the WORLD WIDE WEB!!! Geez! How dare the rest of the planet want to store stuff too! ; )

I guess I need to upgrade, but I wanted to see if anyone had another way to do it.  Maybe my little space dude and his alien friend can help me...  (I had to have at least one photo!)

Weak Thrifts

Oh crap... the winter drought at the thrifts seems to have started early here in Colorado.  I've hit my favorite thrift shop 4 times this week, and walked out almost empty handed.  While this bites the big one, I have decided it is for the best because now I will be more picky (even if it is some what forced) in what I purchase and put in the booth.

This pair of Charlie Brown Avon mugs is by far the best thing I found all week and they will be going in the booth as soon as possible, even though they are super cute and would look great in my house... Dangit!  Why don't I have more space for stuff?!

I didn't even consider bringing this home.  My first primary fridgie encounter in the thrifts and it is almost beaten beyond recognition.  Lets all cry a little bit and move on.

This Flamingo Pink Round  Casserole also had to stay at the store.  This guys... this one almost killed me to leave.  I have never run into it at the thrifts before, but it was in such bad shape.  ~Still a little sad~ :'(

This little green pig planter totally cheered me up though.  I took a little tip from Van at Thrift Core and bought it because it is weird and caught my eye quickly.  Lets see if it does the same thing to someone else when it gets to the booth.

Should I sell the little Charlie Brown cups as a pair or individuals?

I'm going to head over to Sumo's Sweet Stuff for Market Yourself Monday and to Sir Thrift A Lot for Thriftasaurus Thrift Haul Link Up.  Have a great week everyone!
