Crazy Wallpaper and A Few Good Things

The thirfts have been terrible to me this past week, so I decided on Saturday to run down to Florence for some antiquing and goofing off, a little retail therapy if you will.  Before that though, I hit three estate sales near my house.  The first one was a bust.  It was mostly kid stuff and ski equipment in a fancy newer house.  Feeling bummed, but still optimistic, I hit the second sale which was also in my neighborhood and thankfully the house was older and cooler than the first.  Yay for that run on sentence and for the cool house!
The company running it was unfamiliar to me, but they were super cool and let me take some pictures.  The wall paper reminded me of houses that Rae at Say it Ain't So has been to for sales.  She likes crazy wall paper. : )

This one was in the entryway and kitchen.  The pictures aren't very bright because the house was super dark, and I couldn't use my flash because it was really distorting the color.

I love the cars on this wallpaper.  It was in a kids room.  I'm pretty sure nothing had been changed in that house since it was first built in the early 50's.

This floral print was on every wall in the living room and hallway area.

Ok, it is a bad picture, but just imagine a really bright orange color, then imagine it being fuzzy!  Yeah, it was as awesome as you are picturing!

I found a few good things there.

This knitting bag is in great shape and I love the colors of the scarf.  And in that little box is a teeny tiny little bitty 110 camera!  I think  I still have some film for it.  No one processes it anymore, but still, its cute!  Some weird glow in the dark angels for good measure.

I really like this bowl and stand.  It will look cool with someones mid century mod kitchen ware.

This mustard colored planter need a succulent friend.

It is in rough shape, but it was way to neat to pass up.

The last sale was in a weird little gated community so they couldn't do any signs.  I went up to the house with the most cars in front of it and crossed my fingers.  Luckily I was right!  It was slim pickings by the time I got there, but I was able to grab these vintage toys.  Again, rough shape but I couldn't pass them up.  They will be adorable in a vintage themed nursery or play room!  Pretty much everything will be heading to the booth for resale soon.

So I finally got down to Florence and didn't end up getting anything!!!  It is the best place to antique, but I feel like I have been kind of ruined for that because I am so used to the thrift prices, high as they may be.  Does anyone else have this problem?

As soon as they are up and around I'm going to head over to Sumo's Sweet Stuff for Market Yourself Monday! I will also be joining the party at Apron Thrift Girl for Thrift Share Monday.  Have a great week everyone!

Who Loves Pyrex?

This chick!  Lately Pyrex has been popping up all over the place, and I'm all a twitter (not the social thing, that confuses me) about it.  Denver had  a lot to show me (shown here) and the Grandma made it rain Pyrex which I posted about here.  Now it is time for my favorite little thrift shop to represent.  Check it out!

A few days before I decided to buy it, this Spring Blossom #2 casserole had a ridiculous price tag on it so I set it down and walked away.  When I went back, it was still there but it had the right color sticker for that days half off sale, so I jumped at it!  This Buffet Twins (what a strange name for this gold pattern) has a wicked rust stain, but the price was right, so I thought I would gamble on it.  Does anyone have any tips on getting rid of the yucky stain?  I will try Bar Keepers Friend, but am open to other suggestions.
Normally I wouldn't have purchased these Woodland bowls because it isn't a pattern that appeals to me, but I have found that I sell a lot of the neutral colors in my booth.   It is beginning to grow on me, that's for sure.

This is it from this store for now.  It is strange, but I have gone in twice this week and gone out twice with nothing!  I know, I was a little bummed by it too.  I might have even shed a little tear, sniff sniff sniff. I'm not giving up though!  I can't considering how cool the booth looks now.

The Mom wrote, "It's a Mod, Mod, World" and a little Christmas list on the chalk board wall and we did a little rearranging.  I wish I would have remembered my real camera because this cell phone pic isn't doing it justice.  Again, I'm working on the table cloth thing. : )  What do you guys think?

I'm going to keep it short and sweet because I want to have some time to go poke around on everyone's blogs!

Now for a "better late than never" link up at The Colorado Lady.

A Little Bit of Out of Town Thrifting

Man, it has been a really busy past few days!  Friday was a marathon baby food making day, and Saturday included thrifting, a bridal shower and a girls night.  Yesterday was booth love day (that is for another post). I'm pooped!  The bridal shower was in a suburb of Denver, so I left a little early and went to some thrift shops that Heidi at Vacumming in High Heels and Pearls suggested to me.  Check out her blog, it's pretty fabulous.

First up were these Butterfly Gold cinderella bowls.
It is hard to tell, but someone murdered them with their dishwasher.  So sad!  I don't think any amount of Bar Keepers Friends was going to bring these guys back to life.  They had to keep their position on the shelf.

I did find some buttons at a great price though.  This store didn't yield a big haul for me, but it was still super fun to see something different.
The next thrift was just down the street a few blocks.  I got a little luckier there, but found more dishwasher assaulted Pyrex.  I almost knocked an older lady over when I spotted these Daisy cinderella bowls.

I grabbed the solid color as fast as I could and desperately looked around for the prints.  Sadly, this is what I found.  Please excuse the bad phone pics.

I also saw this Spring Blossom casserole dish for a really great price, but in really really bad shape.  You are killing me with the dishwashers Denver!!!

I did score some good Christmas stuff at this store.  This little goodie bag was really gross looking, but I grabbed it anyway, hoping for something good.  The thrift gods didn't let me down.  Look at the cool little Santa that goes on Christmas lights!  Isn't it creepy as hell?!  I love them!

And the dancing snowman is just freakin adorable.  I'm thinking a cool wreath is what these guys need.

Who can deny Shiny Brite ornaments?  Not this chick!

I went to one more thrift shop after that and didn't get anything, but enjoyed looking around.  That same day also included a trip to my favorite local thrift store, where I scored on some Pyrex, but that is a post for another day!

On a non-thrifty note, my little brother is having a tough time after a surgery and could use some positive thoughts and good vibes sent his way.  Love you very much Brother!!!

Now I'm going to head over to Sumo's Sweet Stuff for Market Yourself Monday! I will also be joining the party at Apron Thrift Girl for Thrift Share Monday.  And because I love these parties and can't help myself, I'm going over to Sir Thrift A Lot for Thriftosaurus Thrift Haul Linkup.  Have a great day everyone!!!

Friends and Family Friday

My grandparents are home safe and sound from their adventure to Maine for the summer.  I went over to help them unload and so they could see Little Dude and The Grandma unloaded all this on me.  She spoils me so bad, but I'm not complaining.  ; )
In August I mentioned here how she was out and about looking for Pyrex for me.  She is wicked awesome at finding the good stuff!

So I am now the proud owner of these wonderful Pyrex pieces.  They will be staying in my collection, mwahahaha.  Not sure why an evil laugh is necessary, but it feels right. : )

Mixing bowls!  I freakin love these mixing bowls!  They are in such great shape too!  I collect the turquoise and black prints, so they will obviously fit in perfectly.

This fridgie is in great shape.  I have a few others that don't look as good as this one, so I might sell them in the booth.  I also purchased some fridgies on ebay.  I couldn't help myself, the price was nuts!  They should be here in a few days!

This Snowflake casserole goes well with my other ones.  Look at my cabinet now, compared to a few months ago when I wrote this post about it.  It is almost exploding with fabulousness!

She also got me these lovely Fire King custard dishes.  I love this mod print!  I'm going to call them my pudding cups though because pudding is way easier to make!

And last but certainly not least, she brought me a little gift from her cousin Hollis's wife Ellen. They live in a great little harbor town in downeast Maine where Hollis fishes for lobsters!  Seriously a hardcore dude.  He calls me a "tree hugga."  Just like that, I love it!  His lovely wife found out I collect Pyrex and went and dug this little gem out from her front porch area.  How cool is that?!  Thanks so much Ellen, I love it!!!

So that is what I have for Friends and Family Friday.  I hope a few of you are able to join me this week!  You can link up below!

Oh, and I'm heading over to The Colorado Lady for Vintage Thingie Thursday.  Have a great weekend everyone!

Thrifty Tuesday

After my unintentional break from thrifting, I was eager to get back at it yesterday, so the first place The Little Dude and I went was the thrift shop!

The first thing I spied was this Butterfly Gold mixing bowl.  I have found this same one before and it sold quickly.  I'm taking it to the booth ASAP!

Next was this Forest Fancies round casserole dish.  Now I have a small Forest Fancies that hasn't moved, but I thought I would take the risk again.  I was so excited to see multiple pieces of Pyrex again that I couldn't really pass it up.

The universe was telling me that the break was worth it because right after that I spied this fabulous Pyrex juice pitcher.  It is in great shape.  I've never had one to sell before, so I'm curious to see how this does.  Has anyone had any luck with these?

I couldn't say no to this cloche.  I'm not a good enough decorator to use them myself, but I know others are.  The Mom makes them looks so fancy and cool.  I'll have to get her to take a picture so I can show everyone.  Does anyone else use these or bell jars in their decorating?

And I found this lovely Embroidery pattern bowl at the antique mall where my booth is (yes I shop there too) but I couldn't bring myself to spend the $40 they wanted for it!  Goodness gracious!  The thrifter in me couldn't hand that, but the collector in me tried to rationalize it and make it work.  I walked away sulking...

And a bit of non-booth news:  I have a little crawler on my hands now!  He is all over the place, so my posts might be a little less timely (as is obviously the case in this wicked late post) as a result.  The Little Dude is growing fast and I want to see every bit of it!

I'm going to head over to Sir Thrift A Lot for his wonderfully thrifty link up.  Have a great night everyone!

Getting Back into the Swing of Things

Holy cow, it feels good to be home!  Not to say that we didn't have a good time, because we totally did, but there is something to be said about sleeping in your own bed!  We have all been in Northern Virginia for the past ten days visiting family.  I was really hoping to be able to blog while we were gone, but there just wasn't much to write about.  We were in a fancy area with no close thrifts shops, and the one garage sale I went to was selling a non-antique/vintage leather bag for $100!  Needless to say, that was way out of my price range!  I was able to find two things when we went to Manassas Maryland.  Yeah, that was it!  Two things!  It was a rough trip as far as my thrifting itch was concerned.

I originally thought this was an Opal Pyrex bowl, but from what I have seen, those don't have a stamp on the bottom.  This one does, and is stamped with 1950.  I'm going to research it a little more before I put it in the booth.  Does anyone have any input on this one?

I also found this cute little made in Japan chick.  I didn't notice that she was broken in a few places when I bought her, so I was apparently desperate to buy something, anything!  I won't sell her like that, so she will live in one of my plants.

I guess I should be happy that I found them at all, because for a minute I thought I was going to go back to Colorado empty handed.  Part of the problem was that I was limited in what I could purchase because I was traveling by plane.  But honestly, I didn't see anything that I was super bummed about leaving behind.  And the other problem was that what I ran into was either crazy pricey or very very old English traditional style, which is fine, but just not my cup of tea ; )   This is an example.  Imagine very high prices, and you will understand why I felt a little out of place.

I don't know what I was expecting, but I guess my hopes for awesome were too high.  A Goodwill that we stopped at almost made me cry because it was so small and barely full, and a thrift shop in Georgetown made me choke!  I picked up a $150 sweater and promptly put it back, and slowly but carefully walked out.  I think that if I had more time to wander around and was not easily intimidated by horrible traffic I would have made out just fine.  Anyway, enough of my whining!  We had a great time with all the family, and that is the most important thing.
I went to the thrift shop today, and found some good stuff.  But that is for another post!

Now I'm going to head over to Sumo's Sweet Stuff for Market Yourself Monday! I will also be joining the party at Apron Thrift Girl for Thrift Share Monday.  So glad to be getting back to normal!

Dusting Off the Cobwebs

Man, my poor computer has been so lonely the past few days while I took a break.  I had to blow the dust off of it!  I have actually been and still am out of town right now, and sadly am not in a very thrifty area, so I have nothing fabulous to blog about.  It has been a dark few days without my thrift shops...  Anyway, I was given something to blog about last night!  I won a giveaway over at Virginia Retro!  Check out this great tablecloth that lovely Mrs. Pam is hooking me up with:

And because she is super generous she is throwing in this vintage tea towel:
I'm beside myself with excitement because I never ever win anything!  And I especially have never won anything as cool as this!  Thanks again Pam!  I will be anxiously waiting for the mail for the next week!

Hopefully I will have more fuel for the blog in the next few days.  I'm going a bit nuts over here...  I will still head over to It's a Very Cherry World for REDnesday so I can lurk around all the great blogs there.

Little Breather

Man oh man have I been busy!  The booth is open and running, and I'm beat.  For the past month and a half I have blogged enthusiastically every day and I love it, but I'm just gonna have to take a little break.  Not like weeks or anything, just a few days.  I'm sure you will see me lurking about on your blogs though because I just can't get enough of you guys!  See you soon!

The Booth Is Ready for Business!

It's done, it's done, it's done!  The booth is set up and ready for business!

I consider this my first draft.

So...what do you think?  As you can so obviously see, I am not blessed with the arranging skill that so many of you guys have.  Thankfully, The Mom is great at it so she will be helping me with that in the coming days.  She is also going to do some fun doodles and stuff on the chalkboard wall.  And I understand if you laugh at me for the pseudo table cloth.  I was over estimating the amount of fabric I had, so then I had to rig something up with a cheap wallyworld cloth, the fabric and some duct tape.  I'm not terribly proud of it, but I did what I had to do!  One of my goals this week will be to find a better, no, an actual table cloth.

I'm so thankful to the antique mall for offering those extended hours yesterday!  I would have had a heck of a time getting this done without that.  And The Husband can't be thanked enough!  I would have been up poop creek with out his help.  We had to drop Little Dude off with Granny and Grandpa, then we had to go get my stuff from the case at the other mall, then we had to take everything to the new place and get it set up.  So it should have been pretty easy from there but on top of the table cloth debacle we had a sticker situation.   The price tags from the other mall were super stuck.  I mean I broke every nail trying to get tags off of my items!  We goo-goned like crazy, and it worked out.  It was just an unplanned step.

I love the way the sign came out!  And I will be working on some other things to hang so that people can see us around my neighbor.

We'll keep it this way for a bit, then change it up.  Like I said, this is the first draft.  And what I have learned from all of you is that if you love your booth, it will love you back.  We'll change things frequently to keep it fun and dynamic.

I'm going to head over to The Colorado Lady for Vintage Thingie Thursday.  Oh, and majority rules, the donkey stays!

Pyrex Lovers Check this Out!!!

Today's post is going to be short and sweet because I am going to be super busy today and have to get a move on early.  Yesterday saw the completion of my chalk board wall for my booth and today we start moving stuff in.  I have to go up to where I currently have items in a case to empty it out and then I have to take it down to the new antique mall.  Thankfully The Mom will be watching Little Dude and the Husband will be helping me, so it shouldn't be to bad.

So I found this shop called KitchenKel while poking around on Etsy the other day and just about died.

I know what I am asking Santa for for Christmas!  She makes jewelry out of Corelle plates that have the same patterns as Golden Butterfly and Spring Blossom!

I certainly don't wish any ill will on a piece of Pyrex, but can you imagine a Butterprint necklace?  Sigh, it would be beautiful....

On a sadder note, The Mom had to put her little Buster dog to sleep yesterday.  He was 12 years old and the first dog we ever had.  He was sweet and full of life wanting nothing more than to be part of the fun.  I will miss him a lot but I know that he led a very happy and full life.  Rest in Peace little buddy!
Buster and my little brother.

Thrifty Tuesday

This weeks thrift haul is pretty puny for two reasons.  One: the shelves lately are mostly full of junk and pitiful broken stuff.  Two: I haven't had much time to hit my favorite shop more than once this week because things are rolling on the booth!  I have almost all of my replacement price tags written.  My sign is done!  A cute little display shelf is painted.  And yesterday we got a coat of chalkboard paint up on the wall!  Today we will do one more coat of paint and probably set the table up.  And thank the lucky stars! Tomorrow is vendor night at  my antique mall so they will be staying open late to give vendors extra time to revamp their booths for the holidays.  I know it seems like I am needlessly stressing to get this done, but I will be out of town next week, so I have to get this moving before I leave!  I have enlisted the help of The Mom though, so what I can't get done she will take care of.  She is crazy good at arranging and floofing and I  am super thankful to have her help!

On with the thrifty goodness!  Everything but one item will be going to the booth in the next few days.  I bet most of you know which one is staying with me.

This sweet little jack ass will tell you the temperature while melting your heart.  (Sorry, couldn't help my self!)

This candy bucket looks old to me, but it is hard to tell.  The inside feels kind of fibrous while on a new one the inside is smooth.  Either way, I really like the shape of it and the smirk on her face.  Does anyone know how to tell the vintage candy buckets from the new ones?

This syrup jar has a faint hint of Pyrex, but its a sham.  I'm not going to hold that against it, I still like it.

And last but not least we have this pretty little butterfly tin tray.  I thought it would look really fancy on someones night stand or dresser as a change or jewelry caddie.

So which item do you think I'm keeping?  If you guessed the pumpkin you guessed right.  I really like her!!!

Well now I'm off to Sir Thrift A Lot for Thriftosaurus Thrift Haul Linkup and then to It's A Very Cherry World for REDnesday.  Have a great day everyone!
