Booth Update and A Bit of Exciting News

Things have been pretty crazy and busy around here.  We are still going strong on our bathroom remodel which is going to be awesome!  The shower pan is getting poured today and tile next week!  It seems like I should be able to list all kinds of other things, but I can't for some reason.  I guess doing a million little tasks is a good generalization for how my time has been spent lately.
My thrift haul is going to be in a little late this week because of the above mentioned madness, but I was thankfully able to get to the booth yesterday (The Husband stayed with The Little Dude and I got some much needed me time.  Thanks Husband!).
I've had pretty good sales this month.  How are you guys doing in sales?  Booths, Etsy?  Which is the slowest sales month for you?  Why hasn't that globe sold yet?!  Grrrrr.  How long do you guys leave an item in your booth before you start marking down prices?
Dang, now that my little game of twenty questions is over, how about some fun news?
Drum roll please.................(imagine a snare drum getting beat to death for extra dramatic effect)
The Mom and I are going to Junk Bonanza in April!  This may not seem like big news to some of you, but it is to us.  We are super crazy excited about this little (kind of big actually) junking trip.  As you may already know, we live in Colorado.  This festival of awesomeness takes place in Minnesota.  That's crazy far away from us, like 16 hours away!  But it is so going to be worth the drive.  Yeah, you read that madness right, we are driving! Have any of you ever been to Junk Bonanza or some other kind of big Junk gathering?  Any tips?
Well that is it for me now.  I have to go get started on catching up from our weekend and this weeks new list of small tasks.

Cuddly Critters and a Mystery Box

We are in the midst of a huge basement bathroom renovation, but that isn't keeping me from the thrifts, though it probably should!  I just wanted to do a quick little post to share the rest of my finds from last week.
This little bear planter called my name not only because it is adorable, but because it is in great shape, no chips!  It would be a cool paintbrush or pencil holder.

This tiled hotplate is the second one I found recently.  I love the colors in this one.  They make great photo props for Etsy listings and blog photos,as I'm sure you can see. : )
I'm such a sucker for The Peanuts.  Do you guys sometimes just buy stuff because it tweaks a nostalgic nerve in you?

In the store I had no idea what this was.  It came in a box marked "Fragile, Glass" and that's it.  I took a leap and bought it and am thankful I did!  How cool is this weird little contraption from the early 80's?!  It's going to look great in my sun room full of spring blooms.

These two are going to the booth in the next few days.  Something about their innocent little faces drew me to them.  They would look really cute in a vintage themed nursery.
I'm going to head over to the Colorado Lady and then work on some Etsy listings (two sales today!).  Have a great weekend everyone!

A Little Friendship Goes A Long Way

I bet by the look of that title you thought this would be some sappy, squishy post about peace and love and wah wah wah.  Nope, sorry!  While those things are great (but come one, I'm not a beauty queen) :) Pyrex is what I was alluding to.  I'm excited (probably a bit overly, but who cares) to share with everyone my very first Friendship find!  Check it out:

For a little bit there I was getting pretty jealous of those who found this pattern because I had never seen it in the thrifts and it seemed like everyone else saw it all the time.  Then this week I've seen it twice with the first being a painfully over priced beat up set in a Denver thrift (in the case even) and then this!  Shut up!  I can hardly contain myself.  This is my very favorite non-turquoise/black pattern because it is so fun and whimsical.
Doesn't it look stunning with Turquoise?  This is from Froog and Doog, she has an amazing collection!
It would probably look really cool with my collection...
That is the inner hoarder talking again.  Back damn you, back!!!  Geez...
It's going to the booth as soon as the roads melt enough for me to get it there.
Have a great rest of your week everyone.  Heading over to It's a Very Cherry World to share my find.

Souvenirs, Pyrex and a Sexy Bunny

Thank the thrift gods, things are picking up!  I was lucky to only experience a short dry spell a month or so ago, and that was more than enough for me thank you very much!  This past week was full of neat stuff.  Some of it was so neat I had to take it to the booth right away, before I even had time to take a picture of it.  Things are getting steadier there, and I don't want stale merchandise to ruin that so I've got to keep adding new goodies for everyone!
This Alaska souvenir plate didn't even make it to the booth or to Etsy because The Mom scooped it right up.  She has a little collection of vintage souvenir plates in her laundry room that is quite fabulous.  And we are both a little partial to the Alaska stuff because that is where my twin brother lives.

Speaking of my twin brother, these sweet salt and pepper shakers have a picture of the hospital where we were born!  How cool is that?!  I really love these, but will still list them in the Etsy shop.  I have too many shakers that we don't use already.

I was able to get this fabulous pencil sharpener listed on Etsy today.  Won't it look neat in a craft room or work shop?  It has a cool industrial appeal to it, like it should probably live next to a giant vice.  Do you guys remember these from school or maybe your Grandpa's workshop?  Items that evoke a nostalgic feeling are my favorite and the hardest to part with.

This sweet little bunny is making eyes at you!  She's a saucy little thing isn't she?

And a little Pyrex never hurt anyone!
This Horizon Blue dish had a lid on it that someone took a bite out of, so I asked for a lower price and got it!  Butterfly Gold is almost always plentiful around here, as well as Snowflake, yet they still sell well for me.
Take a minute to appreciate how fabulous that pint sized (badabing!) stack is.  I'm in love with this color combination.  Ok, now take a moment to appreciate that this is how I found them at the thrift shop!  I glanced towards it and first thought, "no way!"  Then when I looked further I realized it was my first New Dots and solid Turquoise finds ever!  Hoarder me wants to keep the New Dots and add orange to the mix here, but I'm going to show some self control and list it online.

It was a great and super productive weekend.  Things were cleaned and photographed and sort of organized.  I even got the guts up to cut up a globe for a craft project!  More on that in a future post, just take my word for now that it is fabulous. : )  Did you guys have an awesomely productive weekend?

What I Didn't Buy

I've been hitting the thrifts pretty hard lately trying to get inventory to beef up my Etsy shop and have run into some things that caught my eye but didn't make it into my basket.

This wicker/rafia/straw wrapped phone is fun, but hardly anyone uses a land line anymore and phones seem to sit for a while in my antique mall so I didn't get it.
Uh... so I get the idea behind this, but am not sure how I feel about it.  I don't know, it's strange for sure, but the flower pattern is pretty.
This clock is a really interesting piece  but it just isn't my style and I try not to buy anything I wouldn't want in my own home.  Ya know, in case this whole reselling thing goes belly up.  ;)
They wanted $5 for this calendar.  I wanted it because that is the year my little brother was born, but not for that much!  Geez!

These vacuums are in great shape and I bet they work still, but I don't need them at my home and I don't have big space for that kind of thing in my booth.  I was super bummed to leave these behind, they are so cool!  They belong in a museum!
These haunt me at night.  I wanted to get one so so so bad!  It's a light fixture and they had four of them!  They must have come from some building that was being remodeled or torn down.  This was at a shop in Aurora, so I'm going to imagine they came from some cool old Denver theater.  Yeah, I like that.  The last thing I need though is more light fixtures and I don't have room for something like this in the booth.  Though now I think I should go get one just for the shell pieces.  The hoarder in me wants them for crafting...

The booth is picking up a bit.  I have sold a bunch of Pyrex and finally my awesome owl clock went home with someone!  Last week I wrote this on the chalkboard next to it: "As seen in Flea Market Decor Magazine!"  I wonder if that was what sold it...

Pyrex Obsessed

It is no surprise that I adore Pyrex (it is involved in almost every one of my posts!). The colors, the patterns, the shapes, the usefulness; everything about Pyrex makes me smile like a fool.  One of the best things about being a collector and a seller is that I get to share my obsession with other obsessed people, so I thought I would do that with you guys since it has been a little while.  Check out my non-human pride and joy!

Ha, I took this last week and I think I have added two more small pieces since then!  It's beginning to burst at the seems, but I like it that way.  So for the longest time I limited my collection to aqua and black patterns.  I have a serious tendency to hoard, so only allowing the two colors kind of helps me keep that in check.  Weeeeeelllll...then The Grandma brings home that fabulous set of Yellow Gooseberry cinderella bowls for me for Christmas, and it's not like I could reasonably turn them down!  That would be freakin nuts!  They are beautiful and I love them!  So now, thanks to The Grandma, I get to add yellow to my collection!  Thanks Grandma!  I love the way these colors go together and it ties in with all the yellow in other rooms of my house.  Do you guys limit yourself to a color scheme or particular pattern?  If you had to pick a favorite, which would it be? (Ooooh, I'm asking the hard hitting questions now!)
As many of you know, I have a small booth that I sell vintage goodies out of.  As you can see, it is well stocked with a lovely little rainbow of Pyrex.  The reason I started doing this came purely from my inner hoarder.  I was thrifting for my colors a while ago and saw all of these other patterns.  Pink Gooseberry, Forest Fancies, Spring Blossom and Butterfly Gold all in one trip to the thrift!  I think about it now and smile.  It was thrilling!  I knew I couldn't collect them all, but I couldn't leave them there!  Thus the booth was born.  I could indulge the inner hoarder and not loose the farm.  It's a win win for me!  And I really enjoy this whole business.  Finding, cleaning, researching, and photographing my items is my idea of a good time.  And the blogging...oooooh how I LOVE the blogging!  I could get all sappy, but I will spare you!
Things have been going pretty well at the Esty Shop too.  I have had a few sales and it hasn't even been open a week!  So exciting!  I'm going to head over to the Colorado Lady and then work on some listings.  Have a great weekend everyone!

Toys, Mushrooms and Milkglass

The Little Dude and I decided to take a mini road trip up North this week to do some out of town thrifting.  The weather was nice and the traffic was thin, making it a really easy and enjoyable quick little trip.  This is what we came back with.

I love everything about this little Fisher Price toy camera.  It is modeled after a 110 camera, has a little flash bulb that rotates and when you look in the viewfinder, you see pictures of jungle animals!  The nostalgia factor is strong with this toy for me.  We played with one of these when we were little.

We saw a lot of vintage toys, but this is the only other one I bought.  The rest were in pretty rough shape.  This is another Fisher Price toy, though this one is older than the camera.  It still works too!
You know I gotta represent, woohoo Colorado!!!!  This cool belt buckle is from the mid 70's.

Some of my finds have been very shabby chic lately.  This milk glass divided dish and silver platted salt and pepper shakers are a good example of that.

Look at that face!  He's so mad!  This twine holder is stamped with "Benihana of Toyko" on the back.  I don't know anything about it, just that it has the best expression!  He would be a great addition to a craft room.  Does anyone know anything about this?

This is one of my favorite finds of the week.  It is a little lucite music box with spun cotton mushrooms.  It's so whimsical and fun and works perfectly.  It is going to be hard to part with this, but it doesn't really fit with my house so it is going into the Etsy shop.  I can't seem to find a lot about of info this little box.  Have any of you guys ever bought or sold one of these?
Bottom of the mushroom box.

This Constellation divided casserole dish was one of my only Pyrex finds this week.  It is on it's way to the booth as soon as I get a lid for it.

This Anchor Hocking Mickey Mouse mug is adorable!!!  That little mouse could do no wrong in my book!

I've been busy trying to get things cleaned up, photographed, priced and listed or taken to the booth this past week.  This month has been pretty slow at the booth so far, but I'm hoping things will pick up soon.  And my new Etsy shop has been so much fun! I'm getting new items listed everyday and have experienced a new wave of energy for finding the perfect piece.   I even had my first sale today (that wasn't to The Mom)!  So exciting!

I'm joining the parties at Apron Thrift GirlSir Thrift A LotSumo's Sweet StuffRemnantIt's a Very Cherry World, Young Heart Old Soul and A Living Space.  Have a great week everyone!!!

All of these items (except the Pyrex dish, unless you would like it) will be available in the Etsy shop here in the next week.  A few more goodies are getting added too, they just haven't been featured on the blog.

Thrift Round Up-Part 2

Like I said in my last post here, the thrifts have been very nice to me lately.  So much so that I had to split a weeks worth of finds into two posts.  This is the rest of what I found last week.
Do you remember this chick?! This adorable little Raggedy Ann wall hanging practically jumped into my cart.  It's not like I could say no!  Look at that sweet face.
Ok, so I am unsure of what this pitcher is.  Do you guys think its Blenko?  Thanks Heidi!  It's made by Blendo.  I'm pretty sure it is, but am unfamiliar with that company, so I don't want to label it that way.  It went to the booth the already.  If this month picks up, I'm betting it won't stay long.  Either way, it's pretty fabulous!  I wish I had orange in my kitchen...

Isn't this yellow vase super mod and lovely?  This one almost didn't make it to the booth.

And now for the bronze.  I found a bunch of it and almost all of it has gone right to my new Etsy Shop.
A very nice lady from Belgium wanted to buy this sweet little squirrel today, but when I looked up the price to ship it to her, it was a bit too high.  I almost had a sale on my first day open with only a few listings.  Super exciting!

I can't resist an owl.  Well, I guess I can.  I saw another one that was gigantic in size and price.  I left that one to roost on its shelf. (bada-bing!)
Sweet little woodland critters.  I couldn't handle the thought of breaking them up, so they are going to go in the shop as a pair.

So this little ducky kind of screws with me.  It is obviously a duck looking to the left, but if you look a little harder, you can see a bunny looking to the right.  Can you see it?  Am I nuts?!

All of that on top of these little kitties seems like a lot of bronze to me, but The Mom assures me that people seem to be liking it more and more.  What do you guys think?  Do you sell much of it?

I'm going to head over to Colorado Lady and My Romantic Home, then I will list a few of my most recent finds.  Listing doesn't seem to bug me too much.  I actually like it more than writing price tags because no one can see my horrific hand writing.  : )

Thrift Round Up-Part 1

The last two weeks of January never turned around for me, which sucks, but I can handle it like a big girl and move on.  I have come to the conclusion though that I need to rotate stuff out a little more.  I never liked doing it because that means stuff is sitting in my sun room, lonely and sad, without the chance of finding a new owner.  For this reason, I'm going to try my hand at an Etsy shop.  It seems like a good next step for me and I'm super excited about it!  If you have any Etsy tips, pointers, or suggestions send them my way, please!  I'm listing items right now, so hopefully in the next week or so I will be able to confidently open for business.

Anyway, on to the fun stuff!  The thrifts have been so generous this week that I need to break this up into two posts!  Lucky me!  How did everyone else do?

Grumpy owl wants you to save your monies!

This little elf skier creeps me out.  I'm so glad he chose to not murder my family while we were sleeping.  He went to the booth the other day thankfully!

Oh Pyrex...you make my little heart quiver!  This Daisy pattern is so bright and cheery.  If it had a bum, sunshine would be coming out of it.  : )
These Lefton's wall hangings are super cool.  The one on the left reads "Kissin don't last, good cookin do" and the one  on the right reads "No matter where I serve my guests, it seems they like my kitchen best."  My inner hoarder wants to keep the one on the left, but I'm not going to let "hoarder me" win!  It's going in the Etsy shop!
These Libbey Hostess glasses are so neat.  The detail on them is in great shape, not scratched or faded at all.  I bought an old Life magazine a few months ago, and was looking through it the other day for my Smash book when I found an advertisement for them!  How cool is that?!  They should sell fairly easily here because of our large military population.
My one and only Valentines Day item.

Swoon!  I love love love this New Mexico pennant!  The colors are so bright and vivid and the landmark drawings are fantastic.  I have also been to most of these places so I think I am a little biased. This is another thing my inner hoarder wants me to keep, but I can't.  I'm putting my foot down in the name of a clutter free home dangit! To the Etsy shop it goes!
This is probably one of my coolest finds this week.  It is a Gilchrist 30 ice cream scoop.  I read that these were used back in the day at neighborhood soda fountains.  It has a 12 etched into the sweep of the scoop, which is supposed to mean that you can get 12 scoops out of one quart of ice cream.  Think of how many root beer floats this thing has helped to make.  I could day dream about that all day...
Back to reality!  This little dohickie came in a bag with the ice cream scoop.  The Grandparents and The Mom think it is for squeezing lemons for mixed drinks.  I'm inclined to agree.  What do you guys think?

I'm joining the parties at Apron Thrift GirlSir Thrift A LotSumo's Sweet Stuff, Remnant and A Living Space.  Have a great week everyone!!!
