Pyrex, MCM and a Sweet Monkey

What a strange week it has been.  The thrifts have been painfully expensive, which I complained about here, yet not completely barren.  It must be some kind of mean cosmic joke.  Also, the first half of January was my very best pay period at the booth, but this last half has so far been the worst!  What the heck is that about?!  I would have expected the complete opposite.  But I'm not complaining because this tough sales week motivated me to get my rear in gear in do some rearranging in my little space.  This is what I ended up with.

The tiered shelf is a new acquisition from the thrift shop.  I really needed something to help bring my items up to eye level.  I think this does that fairly well for now.  What do you guys think?  Any tips?

This cheeky little monkey is super cute.     Does anyone know what the purpose of this thing is because I'm at a total loss!  It could be a cute yarn holder, with your working end coming out of his forehead. Am I reaching?   
Anyway, this mid century butter dish is in really great shape so it might not have much age to it, but it is still cool. And this yellow refrigerator dish is part of the stupidly overpriced Primary Colors set I mentioned here.  It required lots of scrubbing, but it was worth it because it looks perfect now.  

This Compass Snack Server was reasonably priced and in great condition.  This one will be staying with me though (it's a hard decision :) because it is one of my colors.  I can't wait to show everyone how fabulous my cabinet looks!   It has had some wonderful new additions since the last time I shared. 
 I can always find room in my booth for this Butterfly Gold oval casserole lid.
This beautiful lid is a bit of a mystery, even at Pyrex Love.  Mine is marked Pyrex and in great shape.  Should I sell the lid by itself or hang on  to it until I find its companion?  


 Love these curly candle holders.  They could totally be mine, but I think I will let someone else enjoy them.  I have enough stuff!







It is killing me to sell this kidney shaped server, but I don't have much of a need for it.  It's screams mid century and my style, but I think someone else can get more use out of it than me.










Black Tulip!!!  I finally found one at a "doesn't make me die a little inside" price!  It came from an antique shop Southeast of Denver.  It made the entire trip worth it.  That is until I found this at the thrift shop...
Can you imagine the heart palpitations I had when I saw this on the shelf?  Can you hear the angels singing?  Both of those things happened and it was glorious!  After a little bit of scrubbing it shined like new.  Now I just need to find the lid and the cradle, but for now I am a happy camper!
This week will bring more additions to the booth and continued plans for a fabulously thrifty trip.  I'll share more as soon as I can.  Until then I'm joining the parties at Apron Thrift Girl, Sir Thrift A Lot, Sumo's Sweet Stuff and A Living Space.  Have a great week everyone!!!

    You have a real keen eye for merchandising, it looks great! I am terrible at these things, but I found it hard to see the items on the new tiered shelf with the black background... Is there any way you can hang fabric backing between the shelf items and the blackboard?

      Thanks! I think fabric might be a pain, but what would do kind of the same thing is to color in the area behind dark items with white chalk. Doing that today! Thanks for the idea!

    Wow, you found a great amount of Pyrex! I especially love that Black Tulip. It is definitely on my "Must Find" list. The turquoise scroll was too until I found it at an antique mall in Washington last Summer. Isn't it beautiful?

    Your booth is looking great. Your 3-tiered shelf is the perfect addition. If it were me, I'd paint it. But then again, I paint everyting!

      It would look a million times better painted, that's for sure! I want to find something that I can rotate that shelf with every few weeks so that things look new and different for repeat customers. As soon as I find that piece, I will take this one home and paint it, probably the same color as the other little aqua shelf.
      I hope you find Black Tulip soon, it really is lovely!

    Love all the great Pyrex pieces. Have you tried using your suicases for display also. You could open them if they are good inside and put some things inside. I'm not good at that sort of thing like you obviously are, but I think people will automataically look at the cases anyway, so take advantage of that.

    Amaze Pyrex finds. I always love peaking at your booth when you update deciding what I would buy if I were there. How much would you charge if you were to sell the lid? There is a somewhat overpriced antique mall, but very well known & well shopped, that some booths are charging $20 for a 503 fridgie lid. Most booths charge $25 for a 503 fridgie. People must buy the $20 lids because they are gone when I go next time...

    Maybe keep it in the booth, but price it a bit high? If you find the other half while you've still got it, you can make some extra bucks, but you may never find it & may make another Pyrex collector very, very happy who has been dying to find the lid.

      I'm not sure what I would charge for it, I need to do some research. I do like your idea to price it a little high in hopes that I find the bottom piece.
      A lid wouldn't sell for more than $10, and usually it would be around $20ish for a 503 and the lid. It depends on what the pattern is and what kind of shape it's in. My prices tend to be lower than others because I'm not out to make my mortgage payment. This is just for fun for me. I want to sell stuff mostly just to be able to continue doing it.

    Is the monkey a twine holder? What does it look like in the back? Is there room to hold a small ball of twine and a little scissor?

    LOVE the tiered shelf to help with layering stuff! It gives small things a great "home" to be featured in.

    HOW do you get so lucky with the Pyrex??? Never seen that brown pattern either!
