One For Me, One For The Booth

The thrifting the other day was spectacular!  Goodies of all kinds came home with me in just a few hours, and everyone I ran into was in a great mood.  It was a lovely way to turn my frown upside down!  (I had just left The Little Dude with my parents so he could go on vacation, and I cried like a baby.)
These sweet mid-century glasses by Georges Briard were practically tossed into my cart.  That's how much I loved them.  I was able to find eight of them, so I am going to sell them as two sets of four.  I was going to keep them for my house (that way my family has something to drink out of other than beer glasses on Christmas morning) but then I found the following set.

A few feet down the aisle these Luminarc glasses sang to me.  All eight of them will be living at my house, at least for now.  Won't these look fabulous with some Black Snowflake Pyrex?

Which set would you keep?

I found these stainless steel cups, but I don't know much about them.  They are fairly small so I don't think they are for milkshake machines.  It almost seems like they should have something on the outside, like a leather cover.  I saw a few examples of this online, but I'm not sure of it.  Does anyone know anything about these?  I'm going to sell them, but sure would like to know a little more about them.

And last but not least (for this post, trust me, there is more!)  my first spun cotton snowman!  Isn't he fancy looking with his little top hat!  He's going to live on my shelf, maybe even year round.  : )

Now I'm off to join the party at the Common Ground for Vintage Inspiration and then over to My Romantic Home for Show and Tell Friday.  Have a great weekend everyone!

Good Haul For Her First Thrifting Adventure

~ Breathing out a huge sigh of relief~ The dishes are done, ah!!!  For the past two hours I have been ruining my nails and pruning up my hands because between my best bud and I, my counters are full of wonderful trinkets.  The Little Dude went on his adventure with Granny and Grandpa, so I am going to take advantage of this free time (I really miss him, so it's best to keep busy) and get stuff done.  First on the list, clean and price...everything!
But before that happens, check out what The Bud found for me to sell:

She spotted this Snowflake Blue divided dish with its holder and lid.  The dish is in great shape, not a single scratch on it.  They had it marked with three separate prices; one for the lid, the stand  and the dish.  I normally am pretty mum on what I pay, but because she found it, I will tell you that they would have gotten $36 big ones out of her!  Seriously, SERIOUSLY???!!!  Thankfully she is good with words and is charming because she was able to talk them into giving it to her for the price on just one of the tags.  If it was me I would have gotten all sassy and mouthy with them and I would have walked out grumbling and empty handed.

This chick goes out on her first thrifting expedition and she scores Pyrex with the lids and cradles!  It was meant to be!   I might be a sneak and keep the cradle and sell the Golden Acorns dish.

She found more too!  I've never seen Old Town Blue on one of these pitchers before.  And this Butterfly Gold pitcher is in awesome shape.  The Colonial Mist cinderella bowl was pretty dirty and yucky, but a little bit of Bar Keepers Friend made it look like new.

She did such a great job!  I am lucky to have her on my side.

I am gonna keep up this momentum and get some items priced.  I found a ton of awesome stuff today that I will spread out over a few posts.  Before that, I'm joining the parties at Apron Thrift GirlSir Thrift A Lot, and A Living Space.  Have a great rest of the week everyone!!!

Lets Try This Again...

Yesterday Blogger yelled at me for being a storage hog and I didn't get to  finish this ridiculously late Thanksgiving post, so I'm going to try again now that I have figured out my storage situation.  I just bought some more via Google because it was easiest.  Thanks for the tips though guys!

From Yesterday:
Wow, I am a Tardy Tina on this, but better late than never!  Happy Late Thanksgiving, Black Friday (anyone score anything crazy good?) and Small Business Saturday.  We spent the day at The Grandmas house, stuffing our faces and looking through newspaper ads for crap we really didn't need.  It was awesome!  I love those guys!  This is what I brought to the feast:

Gobble Gobble!  Hahaha!  I saw this on Pinterest and decided I needed to make one.  I'm not usually good at this kind of thing, but I think it came out pretty cute.  It is sitting on my new thrifted tray.   It is in the shape of a leaf and has flower engravings on it.  No markings on it though, so I don't know who made it or how old or new it is.

I didn't leave the Pyrex out, no worries : )  A Woodland Cinderella Bowl held the Jalapeno Ranch Dip and the Yellow Casserole (is this a Daisy dish?) held the hummus that The Husband made.  It was sooo yummy!  I usually don't have anything nice to bring stuff in, but this year is different because I am able to borrow from my booth inventory.  Sweet!!!
That is all I have for now.  It has been a busy week, so I haven't been able to do much thrifting.  And it will have to wait a little while longer because The Little Dude it going on vacation with The Mom and her Bobert (her husband, my name for him) so I have to get him ready.  He is so excited to drive for 16 hours (this was their idea by the way.  I think taking a 10 month old on a road trip is nuts, but more power to them!) to go see Great Grandma and Great Grandpa!
I should have a few things to show soon though because my buddy has been thrifting for me!  ~Insert evil laugh here~  I think the thrifty bug has bitten her!  Have a great rest of your weekend!

A Painfully Late Happy Thanksgiving

Wow, I am a Tardy Tina on this, but better late than never!  Happy Late Thanksgiving, Black Friday (anyone score anything crazy good?) and Small Business Saturday.  We spent the day at The Grandmas house, stuffing our faces and looking through newspaper ads for crap we really didn't need.  It was awesome!  I love those guys!  This is what I brought to the feast:

Okay, so scratch that for a sec.  I tried to upload some pictures to blogger and I got this :

Whoops! You're out of space. You are currently using 100% of your 1 GB quota for photos. Upgrade storage
Photos are stored in your Picasa Web Albums account and are included in your 1 GB free quota for photos. Additional storage you purchase is shared between several Google products and is in addition to your free quota. Learn more
So....I don't really know what I'm supposed to do about that. I guess I never thought about running out of space on the WORLD WIDE WEB!!! Geez! How dare the rest of the planet want to store stuff too! ; )

I guess I need to upgrade, but I wanted to see if anyone had another way to do it.  Maybe my little space dude and his alien friend can help me...  (I had to have at least one photo!)

Weak Thrifts

Oh crap... the winter drought at the thrifts seems to have started early here in Colorado.  I've hit my favorite thrift shop 4 times this week, and walked out almost empty handed.  While this bites the big one, I have decided it is for the best because now I will be more picky (even if it is some what forced) in what I purchase and put in the booth.

This pair of Charlie Brown Avon mugs is by far the best thing I found all week and they will be going in the booth as soon as possible, even though they are super cute and would look great in my house... Dangit!  Why don't I have more space for stuff?!

I didn't even consider bringing this home.  My first primary fridgie encounter in the thrifts and it is almost beaten beyond recognition.  Lets all cry a little bit and move on.

This Flamingo Pink Round  Casserole also had to stay at the store.  This guys... this one almost killed me to leave.  I have never run into it at the thrifts before, but it was in such bad shape.  ~Still a little sad~ :'(

This little green pig planter totally cheered me up though.  I took a little tip from Van at Thrift Core and bought it because it is weird and caught my eye quickly.  Lets see if it does the same thing to someone else when it gets to the booth.

Should I sell the little Charlie Brown cups as a pair or individuals?

I'm going to head over to Sumo's Sweet Stuff for Market Yourself Monday and to Sir Thrift A Lot for Thriftasaurus Thrift Haul Link Up.  Have a great week everyone!

Ready for Christmas!!!

Taaaa Daaaa!

What do you guys think?!  I'm really pleased with the way everything turned out.  They are doing an open house on December 8th for the holiday season, and I think I'm ready for it!

Changing it Up

Today is the day for a little revamping!  My antique mall is staying open late tonight for vendors so they have a chance to beautify their spaces for the holidays.  And I'm ready for it!

The Grandma and I went to check out an enamel top table yesterday that was listed my local Craigslist.  It is hard to tell, but it was super dirty.  Some kind of goo mixed in with an enormous amount of dust and grit made it seem beyond saving.  There was yuck all over the top, and dirt in every micro crack in the enamel.  But because I don't give up that easily, I hauled the thing home and gave it a good scrub down.

This is what it looks like now.  After a good rub down with Bar Keepers Friend, a billion passes with a hot wet sponge, and a little shining with those homemade dusting clothes you've been seeing on Pinterest, (they totally work) and it is a new table. Well kind of...  It is still super used, but I really like all the dings and scraps.  It gives the table character, plus it will look great in my booth!

So out goes this long table and in comes my cool new table and a shelf that The Mom is letting me borrow for a while.  With both the shelf and the table I will be able to display my Pyrex a little better, and still have room for funny shaped stuff on the table.  Plus, because this table has a cool top, I won't be using a table cloth and I will also be able to display items under it!  I'm so stinking excited!

I got an email back from the person selling these cabinets I was so excited about right after I bought the table!  Really dude, you couldn't have emailed me back a little sooner?!  The cabinets would have been great, but I think that I wouldn't have had has much usable display space as I will with this current plan.

Now to head over to the party at The Colorado Lady.  Oh, and I'm heading over to It's a Very Cherry World for Rednesday because I finally have something to share!  Woohoo!  Have a great Friday everyone!

Some Things Get Left Behind

We all have things we wish we could have purchased, or things that pained us to leave on the thrift store shelf.  Yet we rise above our impulses and resist the frivolous, yucky or broken items time and time again.

I just couldn't bring myself to spend $13.00 on this Spring Blossom cinderella bowl.  It was scratched up on the bottom which helped me feel better about my decision to leave it on the shelf.
The more I look at this lamb with the shifty eyes, the more I'm regretting not buying her!  Dangit!
I've never purchased a paint by numbers before, so I wasn't sure if the price of $7.99 was good on this or not.  It also had a few yucky age spots on it that looked like they might be hard to clean up.  What do you guys think?  Was that a good price?
These t.v trays live at an antique store in Florence, and it killed me not to bring them home.  The colors are right, the design is lovely, but what the heck am I gonna do with them?!  Ugh, I couldn't rationalize this one no matter how hard I tried.
So not a single one of these sets was less than $85!  If they had been the solid turquoise ones, I would have been all over them, but since they weren't, I let them stay on the shelf.  Way to rich for my blood!

And last but not least, this crazy looking ET sculpture.  It was cracked down the back and I think was at one point used as bong, so it stayed at the store.  It sure did make me smile though!

I'm going to head over to Sir Thrift A Lot for Thriftasaurus Thrift Haul Link up.  I'll also be joining A Living Space for Nifty Thrifty.  Have a great week everyone!

Stocking up for Winter

This is my first winter as a thrifter and all this talk of it being a slow time for thrifting is making me dang nervous, so I am trying to fatten up my inventory beforehand.
The flea market got rain/snowed out, so I went to the thrifts.
This yellow Primary Colors mixing bowl has a little chip, but I think someone will still be happy to have it complete their set.  This same thrift shop had another one that barely had any yellow color left to it at all, yet it still had the same price as the one above!  Ugh...so frustrating.

This is my first Fire King purchase and I really like it.  The pattern is very mod to me, even kind of manly.  Does anyone know anything about it?  I will have to do some research before I put it in the booth.

This Pyrex Bake n' Round is going to look great with some Christmas decorations in it.  I sure as heck won't be baking any bread in it!  Has anyone ever used one of these gadgets?
These had been taunting me for a few days now, but they were wicked pricey, so I ignored them.  Well today was half off day, so I splurged a little!  They are so cool and in great shape.  All they needed was a little bubble bath and they are good as new.

I found this Butterprint Cinderella bowl and fuzzy headed little figurine at a shop that I normally don't do very well at so I was tickled pink!  This commuter cup made me laugh.  I might keep this one.  The lid requires one to push a button to dispense the delicious beverage and that will work perfectly for me because I always forget to close the stinking lid!

This owl plate is pretty cool.  It has a hanger on the back and says Rocky Mtn. Park.  This is the best looking Hall's Red Poppy bowl I have seen so far.  These things are generally well loved and have the scars to prove it.

This Thursday my antique mall is going to have extended hours for vendors, so I'm trying to get stuff together for that.  Sadly, I don't think I will be getting the super cool cabinets mentioned here.  I haven't gotten an email back from them and the ad is gone.  I'm pretty bummed, but I am going to keep looking.
I'm going to head over to Sumo's Sweet Stuff for Market Yourself Monday! I will also be joining the party at Apron Thrift Girl for Thrift Share Monday.  Have a great week everyone!

Silly Poodle

Yesterday the husband finished up work a little early so that I could head over to my booth to add a few things while The Little Dude stayed at home and played.  They are so good to me!

I added a few things, moved some stuff around and noticed that a few things sold too, which is always fantastic!  I'm interested to see how well things sell in the coming months with Christmas being right around the corner.  Oh geez, Christmas...  I better get my crap together and get some shopping done.  This year is fun though because I get to buy toys!  Woohoo!
After that I had enough time to hit my favorite thrift shop. They didn't have a lot of customers so it was a lovely, slow paced trip down the junk packed aisles.  It was oddly calming.  I found a few good things.   This Napco poodle caught my eye right away.  Seriously, it's eyes followed me around.  It was creepy.
I almost never see this Square Flowers pattern, so I was super tickled to find this mixing bowl, plus it's in good condition too.  If I wasn't so worried about becoming a hoarder and limiting myself to two colors, I would totally collect this color.  Something about 60's green... I don't know why, but it's lovely.  Sigh...
Anyway!

These goofy bad golfer glasses made me laugh.  I think they will appeal to any golfer with a sense of humor.

I still haven't gotten a response from the craigslist ad I responded to yesterday about these cabinets.  The anticipation is killing me!

Also, you can't see it very well, but these pics were taken on my lovely vintage table cloth that I won in a giveaway over at Virginia Retro.  As soon as I get my sun room (that is where the table cloth lives) all cleaned up again, I will do a proper thank you post to Pam.  But for now, THANKS PAM!!!

Now to head over to the party at The Colorado Lady.  Have a great Friday everyone!

What Do You Think?

So The Mom and I think this is a genius idea, but before I make the leap, what do you guys think?

Upper Cabinets
These are vintage metal cabinets that are currently listed on Craigslist.  Wouldn't they be super cool in my booth?!  We would take off most of the doors and add a few more shelves within the cabinets for displaying my vintage goodies.

I'm waiting to get the exact dimensions, but I'm pretty sure they would still leave me plenty of room in my 8 foot x 3 foot space.

What do you guys think?  Be honest, I can handle it!

Thrifty Tuesday

Finally!  Holy crap, I for sure thought the thrifts were going to disappoint me again but thankfully I was wrong.
These ornaments screamed my name, which is good because I walked past them twice before I picked them up!  My head wasn't in the game I guess.  I'm thinking they are Polish because one of them has Poland engraved on the metal part, and the boxes have made in Poland stamped on them (but we all know that ornaments tend to jump boxes when you are putting them away, so who knows).  Does anyone know more about them?  Spread that hard earned knowledge around guys!

This is the first large lot that I have found that aren't the ordinary bulb shape like I found here.

There are quit a few of this type to, with the dainty little flowers.  Some of these look like they could be mercury glass, but I'm not sure.

These Shiny Brites are freakin awesome!  It's a full package with no damage to the ornaments.  I love, love, love the kissing snowman and snowlady.

Now that I have a buttload of vintage ornaments, I think that I am ready to put them up for sale in the booth.  We have a cool silver tree that these will look spectacular on.  Now I just have to get all of them priced.  That seems to be the part I dislike the most. I seriously have to force myself to sit down to enter items into my spreadsheet and then write price tags. Is it the same for anyone else?

I'm going to head over to Sir Thrift A Lot for Thriftasaurus Thrift Haul Link up and then over to It's A Very Cherry World for Rednesday.  It has been a while since I have been able to join up with these guys, so I'm super excited.  I'll also be joining A Living Space for Nifty Thrifty.  Have a great week everyone!

Booth Update!!!

It has been a full month since we moved into the new booth and while stuff hasn't been flying off the shelves like I had hoped, items are selling better than they did at the case in my old antique mall.  This what it looked like the first day:

And a few weeks ago in this post I mentioned how The Mom and I did some styling and arranging at the booth. Please excuse the bad phone pics.  I can't seem to get it together enough to remember my camera.
It made such a huge difference!  The ladies that work at the mall said they get a lot of good comments about it and people love it!  Score one for us!  The Mom and I will change it here in a few weeks with some kind of festive holiday phrase.  So between the above picture and this one, not much sold.  One kitty and a Pyrex bowl were all that moved in 10 days.  It was kind of a bummer, but I wasn't going to give up.

This is the booth a full month later, and things have changed quit a bit.  Three pieces of Pyrex (surprises me it wasn't more) sold.  The cool panther planter, GE clock, and my super mod candle holders, among other things, also went home with happy customers.  I'm really excited to see some of these things selling.  I just have to feel this out for a few more months to see what people like the most and to make sure that the items are priced just right.

Does anyone do anything different or special to get ready for the holidays?

I'm going to head over to Sumo's Sweet Stuff for Market Yourself Monday! I will also be joining the party at Apron Thrift Girl for Thrift Share Monday.  Have a great week everyone!

Little Odds and Ends

Snot snot every where!  The Little Dude has had a yucky little cold for the past few days, but slept through the night last night in his own bed, so I'm crossing my fingers and hoping this is almost over.  It is so sad to see his squishy little face all red with goo dripping from his nose, then getting smeared on everything and everyone in the house.  Even the cats haven't been sparred!
Anyway, I haven't really wanted to drag him around while he wasn't feeling good, so I haven't made it to the thrifts this week.  I know, I'm surprised too!  Oh how I miss it...
I was attempting to organize thousands of pictures and found a bunch that had been left out of the blog for one reason or another.

I seem to be loving these things right now because this isn't the first one I found, and it isn't the last one I have found.  This one is huge, and aside from the front being a little scratched, it is in great shape.  Here is one I found back in September.
I wonder how well these things sell?  I guess we will see soon enough!

This rotary phone style phone book was also saved from the thrifts in September.  Is this like the one you mentioned you had Sir Thrift A Lot?
I also found these sweet acrylic flower coasters and they just happen to match my living room, so I'm keeping them!

Pyrex is always a plus in my book!  This Snowflake bowl was even at a reasonable price.  ~Insert thrift store price rant here~
Today I will be heading to a friends wedding in Denver, and hopefully I will get my crap together early enough so I can get some thrifting in too.  Have a great weekend everyone!
