Some Things Get Left Behind

We all have things we wish we could have purchased, or things that pained us to leave on the thrift store shelf.  Yet we rise above our impulses and resist the frivolous, yucky or broken items time and time again.

I just couldn't bring myself to spend $13.00 on this Spring Blossom cinderella bowl.  It was scratched up on the bottom which helped me feel better about my decision to leave it on the shelf.
The more I look at this lamb with the shifty eyes, the more I'm regretting not buying her!  Dangit!
I've never purchased a paint by numbers before, so I wasn't sure if the price of $7.99 was good on this or not.  It also had a few yucky age spots on it that looked like they might be hard to clean up.  What do you guys think?  Was that a good price?
These t.v trays live at an antique store in Florence, and it killed me not to bring them home.  The colors are right, the design is lovely, but what the heck am I gonna do with them?!  Ugh, I couldn't rationalize this one no matter how hard I tried.
So not a single one of these sets was less than $85!  If they had been the solid turquoise ones, I would have been all over them, but since they weren't, I let them stay on the shelf.  Way to rich for my blood!

And last but not least, this crazy looking ET sculpture.  It was cracked down the back and I think was at one point used as bong, so it stayed at the store.  It sure did make me smile though!

I'm going to head over to Sir Thrift A Lot for Thriftasaurus Thrift Haul Link up.  I'll also be joining A Living Space for Nifty Thrifty.  Have a great week everyone!

  1. I can't believe that Spring Blossom bowl was $13! In my area, you can almost guarantee that you will find either a Butterfly Gold or a Spring Blossom piece of Pyrex no matter which thrift store you go into. Unfortunately, they are not my patterns. How come you didn't buy those trays to go into your booth? Maddie has a couple that she likes to use as craft trays and to eat at when she is in my room. They can be pretty handy.

    1. I would have bought them to sell if they didn't have an already crazy price on them. I keep thinking about them though. I could use them for crafty stuff too... : )

  2. $85? Places are getting way out of control with their Pyrex prices. Like they think it's way more valuable than it is. They're eventually going to get sick of their pieces not moving off the shelf!
The T.V trays with the birds are too cute! I've never seen that design.

    1. Yeah, it is madness. I'm trying to change that though, at least here in Colorado Springs. : )

  3. I LOVE shifty eyes, ET, and the horses! The price on the horses is DEFINITELY on the high side for second hand, I've bought some at antique malls for less. HOWEVER, it's definitely the type of piece that's guaranteed to sell quickly online on eBay or Etsy, there are lots of collectors for horse themed paint-by-numbers. If you were willing to price it at $24.00 you could have made a decent profit. BUT who knows if it would have come clean? You were best to leave it :)

    1. Thanks for the advice! I'm going to keep an eye out for pieces that are in better shape! I would totally collect vintage paint by numbers if I wasn't a borderline hoarder!

  4. $85??? They are nuts! I really don't think I could have walked away from those trays! You are a strong gal! That's a little high for a paint by numbers. My local thrift would probably sell something like that for 3.99 or 4.99. If it were framed, it would a little higher.

    1. The trays are killing me! I'm going to keep an eye out for more paint by number pieces that are in better shape. Hopefully they will be priced a little more like what you mentioned. Thanks for stopping by!

  5. Yeah, those TV trays are great! The ET made me smile - thanks. Imagine smoking out of ET? My favourite ET item is the ET Finger Light. So wrong.

There is a store near me that prices their Spring Blossom Green bowls at similar prices. Drives me crazy. They overprice much of their Pyrex, but sometimes it's reasonable.

HATE Pyrex in antique malls when it's overpriced. I mean, I wouldn't hate it anymore if it was in my house.
