Thrift Haul And Booth Update

Last weeks post ended with me whining about feeling busy and anxious, and this week seems to be no different.  We were supposed to leave for Florida yesterday, but The Little Dude caught a bug so we had to move the trip back a week.  Now it kind of feels like we'll be on repeat, minus the cooties!  Oh well!  I didn't get a lot of thrifting in because I was getting ready for our trip, but I did manage to find a few good things.
They are quietly threatening to close the thrift store where I got the Spring Blossom bowls so they can open a newer, fancier one.  It's in an old neighborhood, but that's totally part of it's charm.  A fit of epic proportions will be pitched if they choose to close this store!  For real, it's a great store and I won't let it go down without a fight!!!
My only other find was my favorite find.  These Mon-Stir drink sticks are fabulous!  They were in a grab bag that had been opened and pawed through so it's crazy that they were still there.  They'll be added to my growing Halloween display.  The other plain ones have "stolen from Skyline NCO Club - Hanau,Germany" lightly etched into the sides.  Guess they had a theft problem...  Have you guys ever seen stir sticks like these?
Holy cow!  I just looked the Mon-Stirs up on ebay - one went for $15 recently - just one!  I won't be selling mine, but that's cool to know!
Sunday I went to the booth and floofed a little bit.  It seemed like sales have been kind of slow, but when I look at the reports, it's actually been pretty steady.  Yesterday ended the month really nicely, so now I'll have a healthy little check to take to Florida.  Maybe I'll be able to hit some thrifts while I'm visiting family.  Right...of course I will!!!
Wish me luck on this trip guys.  It's my first flight by myself with The Little Dude.  He's a busy guy who doesn't like to be contained, so this is going to be tough.  I've got snacks galore, new books and some new apps on the tablet.  He's too young (20 months) to understand earphones, so most movies are out of the question.  Any other tips or tricks for flying with a toddler?  I already got some good advice here, thanks guys!!!

I'm joining the parties at  Sir Thrift A LotRemnantMod Vintage LifeThe Thrifty GrooveA Living SpaceIvy And Elephants, The Cottage Market and Apron Thrift Girl. Have a great week everyone!

  1. I love your shop! I wanted to look you up to say thanks for having a great shop with reasonable prices so that I am actually willing to purchase things! (I'm sure you've seen the booth not to far from yours with a ton of DWD items with prices far higher than the going rate on etsy or ebay--so frustrating!) With all the great things in your booth I'm so curious about your own pyrex collection--it must be amazing!

    1. Yay! You have totally made my day! Thank you very much for saying that Traci! Seriously, I really needed to hear that.
My collection is pretty tame compared to others. I limit myself to black, yellow and turquoise because I know my tendency to hoard is great. That's kind of why I have the booth! I never have to leave good stuff behind!

  5. Your booth looks fabulous! Would love to spend an hour in it, lol. The mon-stir stirrers are great, have never seen them. Aren't you glad you checked eBay?

Ask your son's pediatrician about Dramamine (whatever it's counterpart is for kids) if he gets motion sickness. It helps! Not suggesting you drug your child, really, unless he has that problem. :) Pam

  8. Good luck with your trip. The thrift stores in the old neighborhoods are the best, because that seems to be where the best stuff comes from. Dawn @ We Call It Junkin.com
