A Little Bit of Out of Town Thrifting

Man, it has been a really busy past few days!  Friday was a marathon baby food making day, and Saturday included thrifting, a bridal shower and a girls night.  Yesterday was booth love day (that is for another post). I'm pooped!  The bridal shower was in a suburb of Denver, so I left a little early and went to some thrift shops that Heidi at Vacumming in High Heels and Pearls suggested to me.  Check out her blog, it's pretty fabulous.

First up were these Butterfly Gold cinderella bowls.
It is hard to tell, but someone murdered them with their dishwasher.  So sad!  I don't think any amount of Bar Keepers Friends was going to bring these guys back to life.  They had to keep their position on the shelf.

I did find some buttons at a great price though.  This store didn't yield a big haul for me, but it was still super fun to see something different.
The next thrift was just down the street a few blocks.  I got a little luckier there, but found more dishwasher assaulted Pyrex.  I almost knocked an older lady over when I spotted these Daisy cinderella bowls.

I grabbed the solid color as fast as I could and desperately looked around for the prints.  Sadly, this is what I found.  Please excuse the bad phone pics.

I also saw this Spring Blossom casserole dish for a really great price, but in really really bad shape.  You are killing me with the dishwashers Denver!!!

I did score some good Christmas stuff at this store.  This little goodie bag was really gross looking, but I grabbed it anyway, hoping for something good.  The thrift gods didn't let me down.  Look at the cool little Santa that goes on Christmas lights!  Isn't it creepy as hell?!  I love them!

And the dancing snowman is just freakin adorable.  I'm thinking a cool wreath is what these guys need.

Who can deny Shiny Brite ornaments?  Not this chick!

I went to one more thrift shop after that and didn't get anything, but enjoyed looking around.  That same day also included a trip to my favorite local thrift store, where I scored on some Pyrex, but that is a post for another day!

On a non-thrifty note, my little brother is having a tough time after a surgery and could use some positive thoughts and good vibes sent his way.  Love you very much Brother!!!

Now I'm going to head over to Sumo's Sweet Stuff for Market Yourself Monday! I will also be joining the party at Apron Thrift Girl for Thrift Share Monday.  And because I love these parties and can't help myself, I'm going over to Sir Thrift A Lot for Thriftosaurus Thrift Haul Linkup.  Have a great day everyone!!!

  1. it's always fun to check out new thrift shops even if you don't always find what you're looking for. but that's the thing with thrift shopping, isn't it? you have to go again and again in order to be successful. i always say if thrifting had a virtue, it would be patience. i love finding old buttons but almost never do - good score there!

  2. Aw, thanks for the kind words and the blog mention! Glad you had a fun day out even if the stores weren't loaded with treasures. LOL I think the vintage Christmas you found is great--I think this is the earliest that particular GW has ever put out their Christmas stuff. Usually it only goes up around Thanksgiving, so I'm loving the chance to score vintage Christmas for several months. Wish the other stores would do the same.

Good thoughts sent to your brother!

    1. Yeah, my local thrifts just put out the Christmas stuff, so that GW was ahead of the game. Thanks again for the advice on the shops! I'm hoping to get back up there soon, at least before the weather makes it impossible to plan. Gotta love Colorado!

    1. Oh man, I totally thought of you the other day. I went into my local thrift and saw probably 15 pieces of Pyrex, most had be dishwashered, and all of them were wicked expensive! I walked away cranky and empty handed.
