This Past Week...

This creepy dude stayed in his dusty spot in the antique store.  ~shudder~
The Mom and I did a bit of antiquing on Monday in Pueblo and she picked up this super cool Princess rotary phone.  She can't technically use it on her land line, but who cares!  It's aqua and fabulous!  Are you a vintage phone collector?  After seeing this beauty, I could totally start a new collection!
We didn't get to spend Mother's Day together, but that's ok.  We hung out the next day so I could give her this little ensemble.  The tin is in rough shape, but that's what makes it so cool.  And the top of the lid says, "to mother, with love."  Perfect!  Gardening is not my specialty, so hopefully this thing survives more than a few weeks.
This shade of blue is the closest to aqua Pyrex so far.  Isn't if cheery and springy? It could be my new favorite color.  Ok, it is.  I keep looking down at my nails, admiring how pretty they are... I might need more things in my life.  : )
 Pyrex problems...running out of room!
So this is the bakelite bangle I found in Oklahoma a few weeks ago.  It is big and beautiful, but the color was a bit muddy and it was super scratched up so I decided to sand it down and polish it.  I could tell before I started that it would have some kind of marbling because you could see it underneath the patina if you looked hard enough.  Well I didn't expect this!  Two dark stripes and I don't think it is from the way I sanded it.  This picture isn't doing it much justice, but I think it came out pretty nice.
Mmmmm...such a great way to start the day.  Everything is better in Pyrex.
See that happy smiley guy right there?  That's my twin brother standing next to his "new to him" airplane!!!  I know, crazy uh?  He lives in Alaska and is working on his pilots license.  I'm so freaking proud if him!  This guy dreams big and always goes for it and I couldn't admire him more.
Are you on Instagram yet?  If you aren't, you totally should be!  All the cool kids hang out there.   Ok, that obviously isn't true if I'm on it... ; )

Thrift Haul - A Few Unusual Items

See those Black Snowflakes?  Those ones right there in the picture?  Yeah, I almost missed them !  I walked right past the pair (and their killer price tag) in a small antique shop while trying to chase after The Little Dude.  Thankfully The Mom and her eagle eyes spotted them.  Can you believe that I don't have these in my personal collection?!  KEEP!!!
The booth can always use more Butterprint and unnumbered Primary dishes.  They are always quick sellers for me.  The hankies are destined for some kind of awesome project, though I don't know what it is yet.  That's the story of my hoarder life...  : )
Have you ever seen a glass washboard?  Up until the other day, I didn't know they even existed.  The print is really faded, but I can tell it was made by the Columbus Washboard Company.  I'm guessing it was produced around the time of the second World War since it's glass and not metal.  Other than that, I got nothing on this.  Any washboard collectors out there?   Do you know anything about this board?  Hard to find, common, etc... It's in reseller limbo right now.  Keep or sell?  Ugh, I don't know!
And then there is this jar, this glorious pink jar.  Pink is far from my favorite color, but I can't deny the beauty of this thing.  It doesn't fit with my stuff, but I just can't imagine never seeing it again so it's going to The Mom.
Booth sales are still going strong, thank goodness!  And I'll be doing a small outdoor flea market outside of my antique mall next weekend.  The plan is to bring the stragglers and price them low so I can move stuff out.  If it doesn't sell there, it's going to get donated!  I have an embarrassing amount of, "what was I thinking" items...
In other news, The Little Dude is still waking up too dang early and I'm still super tired, though I'm getting more used to it.  Hopefully it's just a phase...

The Past Few Weeks...

This beautiful wreath came to existence.  It was a gift for my Auntie who lives in Oklahoma.  It's a bit pink for me, but she loved it!  Ornament wreath making should definitely be a year round craft.  So fun!
We drove out there for a long weekend and had a great time.  And The Little Dude was a peach, it was amazing!  Auntie knows how to make this chick happy, Pyrex and make-up! T Thank you!  And lets take a minute to admire that vanity.  It was in a cute little boutique store in the middle-of-no-damn-where Texas.  I wanted to stick that little turquoise bug in my pocket and take it home!  It was fantastic!  My favorite find in Oklahoma is the bakelite bracelet on the left.  Big and thick, and only $8!  Score one for me!
I had some yummy drinks over the past few weeks too.  The top left is a cucumber margarita that was to die for!!!  Totally going to have to make that one at home.  The bottom left a tangerine gimlet  whose recipe magically appeared to me on Pinterest one night.  It worked perfectly because it utilized the only drink ingredients we had.  Serendipity right there folks.  : )
It's hard for us to have plants outside here due to the massive herd of deer in the neighborhood (and snow), but I've been itching to do something springy.  These succulents scratched that itch for now.  Do you have a deer problem too?  Any tips or tricks to keep them from eating your plants?
The Mom spotted this fun key chain at the thrifts and graciously let me buy it!  One can never have to many globes!  It's pretty old too.  I can barely make out USSR, but I'm pretty sure it's there.
My cat was a wierdo.  Caption this!
OH, MY, HOLY CRAP!!!  This lamp...it's freakin' fantastic.  It is a heat lamp originally but I just replaced the bulb with a fancy Edison bulb and voila... awesome industrial looking lamp.  Keeper!
There was an industrial theme around my house this week apparently.  A quick trip to Home Depot and I was able to make my own version of this pin.  Quick, easy and relatively cheap - my kind of project!
The Mom and I went to the Horseshoe Market in Denver on Saturday and because we were one of the first 50 people in line, we got a great swag bag.  So many wonderful goodies!  That is such a fun market to go to.  They have three more this year so if you're local, check it out.
The Little Dude painted this pot for me for Mother's Day!  Isn't is precious?!  I totally melted.  Nothing is sweeter than a little kid (and husband) excitedly presenting his handmade creation to you.  My heart damn near exploded out of my chest!
The Mom and me...almost thirty years ago!  Ain't she purtty?!
Thankfully, The Mom convinced me to buy this little cabinet meant for perm rods.  It has three drawers and that snazzy metal top.  It's awesome!!!
Yup, that's snow...  I keep trying to tell myself we need the moisture, but still... couldn't it have rained instead?  : )
We're all still waiting for some of you to jump onto Instagram...

This Past Week...

The Mom bought me the wonderful bakelite bracelet on the left, and it isn't even my birthday!  Look, it's so shiny, it sparkles.
She also bought this key, and she's keeping it (pouty face) but it's so cool I had to share it.  The Alamo was a fancy old hotel in downtown Colorado Springs that was built in the late 1800's  and closed in the 60's.  This little key is a piece of our local history.  How cool is that?!
Is there a better way to recognize Earth Day than to light up your cool vintage globe lamp and admire it's beauty?  Well, yes!  But we didn't realize what day it was until almost bedtime, so this was the best we could do.  : )
The Husband and I went out to dinner on Thursday before the community wildfire mitigation meeting, (sounds pretty exciting uh- oh yeah, we're out of control!)  and this wicked awesome bench sits outside near the restaurant.  Colorado Proud!!!
Target got me again!  A cap and straw to turn my wide mouth ball jars into a fabulous cup...shut up and take my money!!!
The booth is full, almost past capacity!  Check out all that fabulous Pyrex from last week.   I could stare at that all day...
The Mom and I went to an antique shop yesterday, and big surprise, I found another globe!  But this one is the moon, and I don't have one of those, and it's awesome and I'm in love!!!  I'm still excited about it, can you tell?
Okay, what the hell is this?!  Those things on the top are hooves, but the rest I'm just not sure of.  It freaks me out, that's for sure.
More huge bakelite buttons!  These came from a little antique show we went to.  The guy had four small cases full of them.  It was fantastic!  He said he bought an estate that belonged to two generations of The Denver Dry Goods Store owners.  He also said he had two huge boxes full of them!  I almost asked him to marry me...not really, but still, that's pretty cool!

Do you use Instagram yet?  If not, you should.  Just do it.

Thrift Haul - Spring Has Arrived!

Spring, glorious-wonderful-magical Spring!  The birds are squawking and the trees and flowers are blooming, and most importantly - IT ISN'T SNOWING!!!  I could dance a gig right now.  Anyway (no one needs to see/hear about that), I only thrifted one time last week, but it was all I needed.  Yup, it was one fanfreakingtastic day of thrifting with The Mom!
I spied this globe lamp from across the store and practically sprinted to get to it.  I've had this on my list for a while so now it can finally be checked off.  It is stunning when it's lit up at night.  Dreamy even...
This score didn't involve any sprinting, just a lot of heavy breathing.  Pink Gooseberry is just so dang pretty!
~Insert more heavy breathing~  I just couldn't believe it.  All of this pink Pyrex was found in one place!  That pretty flower tray is the only thing other than the globe that I'm keeping from this haul.  It was covered in black grease.  Who knows happened to this poor tray in it's past life, but it will surely have a better living situation now.
The fresh springy weather has brought out the lovely Spring Blossom, 1 and 2.  These are in spectacular shape and will look so pretty in the booth next to all the new pink stuff.
It just kept coming!  These Designs bowls need a good scrubbing, but otherwise, they're awesome.  And those hound dog salt and pepper shakers are killing me with cuteness, just look at those soulful eyes!  Though I want to keep them forever and ever, I'm running out of room so they'll be heading to Etsy soon.
Is that white casserole dish Fire King?  The pretty pattern drew me in.  The beautiful bright yellow lasagna pan is cast iron and HEAVY AS HELL.  It was made in Denmark and fetches a pretty penny online.  I'll be sticking it in the booth though - shipping on that thing would be painful.
And last but certainly not least, The Grandma came home from Arizona bearing gifts!  Oh Gooseberry, how I love thee.  I already have this set in my personal collection, so these will be heading to the booth.  Squeeee!!!  Can you imagine how cool my booth is going to look in a few days?!    She also gave me a very special afghan that was made by my Great Grandma, see it here.  Thank you very much Grandma!!! Ugh...blogger won't let me center this.  It's being sassy.
Thank you guys for all your kind words of encouragement and understanding regarding The Little Dude.  It helps to know that he isn't the only butt-crack-of-dawn riser.  : )  Today he woke up at 5:40 am, so that's a swing in the right direction.  It isn't 4 am!

We're going to be getting ready for a road trip to Oklahoma next week and I'm pretty excited!  The drive is just dumb, ugh- so dumb, but my Auntie will be at the end of it, so it's totally worth it.  What a cluster eff this is bound to be.  The Mom, The Grandma, My other aunt, a cousin, and The Little Dude and me - all in one van for 9 hours...  HA!  ~insert a shiver up the spine~
Are you a fan of long road trips?  Have any fun ones planned for this year?

This Past Week...

The awesome key shelf I bought last week got a sweet turquoise paint job.  It really pops off the white wall!  It needs more messing floofing, but so far this little area is working really well for us.   And Thanks Mom for the lard bucket!  It's another one from Colorado.

Squishy puppy face needs more kisses!
I was really thankful to have a vendor night last.  Not only to get some work done and change the booth (seen here) but also so I could relax and have some quiet time.  The terrible twos...Ugh!
That gumball machine with buttons in it is so cute, it almost didn't make it to the booth!
Scary dirty little squirrel wants to eat your soul!  He stayed at the store so he could continue his work, stink eyeing the customers and eating souls.
This is in the town of Pueblo, just south of us.  I just love how they are restoring and adding to the old signage on the side of buildings.  So much character.
Squeeeee!  Look at how big they are!  I scored these huge carved bakelite buttons in an antique shop for a fantastic price.  I just glued a bail to the back of them and attached a French ear wire, so now they can be added to any necklace.   JOY!!!
Here's one of them taking center stage on a "work in progress" collage necklace.  Isn't it awesome?!  I've already added more to it after taking this picture.  The craziness of it isn't for everyone, but I like it!
We had a great Easter at my parents house.  The Little Dude did his first Easter egg hunt and loved it.  Plus The Mom got him a Curious George stuffed animal that he's in LOVE with.  It's the cutest darn thing!
These two guys are so entertaining!  We could have watched them play all afternoon.  Viscous little animals.  : )
The Grandma and Grandpa came back from Arizona bearing gifts!  The afghan is super pretty, but what makes it extra special is that my Great Grandma crocheted it.  That's something we'll treasure forever.  And the Gooseberry!  Holy crap, it's awesome!  I already have the set in my collection (thanks to The Grandma also), so these guys will go in my booth (she knew that when she got them for me) to fancy up the joint.  I just love this pattern!  THANK YOU!!!

Come join in on the Instagram fun!  Every body is doing it.
