French Cake Stand - Family Piece

Almost 50 years ago my Grandparents were stationed with the Air Force in France.  Can you imagine living in France with no family members and 3 kids, and still finding time to have a use for a fancy cake stand and cover?!  I certainly can't, but that's just me.  Wow, how things have changed...

I will take a good detail picture when the sun is out tomorrow

My Grandma bought this super elegant Cake Stand and Dome (if someone has a better name for it, please enlighten me because that just sounds silly) in France in the very early 60's.  Look at the glaze on this thing!  The painted base is porcelain and I think the metal rim and the dome are stainless steel.  It is so pretty and detailed, this picture doesn't do it justice.  Grandma gave this to my mom and my mom is giving it to me, how great is that?  I will keep this for forever, how could I not, it's so cool!  Now to find a way to display the stand in my Fancy China (but not really china) Cabinet.  I should probably make a cake too.  I'm so grateful.  Thanks Grandma and Mom!
