This Past Week...

The awesome key shelf I bought last week got a sweet turquoise paint job.  It really pops off the white wall!  It needs more messing floofing, but so far this little area is working really well for us.   And Thanks Mom for the lard bucket!  It's another one from Colorado.

Squishy puppy face needs more kisses!
I was really thankful to have a vendor night last.  Not only to get some work done and change the booth (seen here) but also so I could relax and have some quiet time.  The terrible twos...Ugh!
That gumball machine with buttons in it is so cute, it almost didn't make it to the booth!
Scary dirty little squirrel wants to eat your soul!  He stayed at the store so he could continue his work, stink eyeing the customers and eating souls.
This is in the town of Pueblo, just south of us.  I just love how they are restoring and adding to the old signage on the side of buildings.  So much character.
Squeeeee!  Look at how big they are!  I scored these huge carved bakelite buttons in an antique shop for a fantastic price.  I just glued a bail to the back of them and attached a French ear wire, so now they can be added to any necklace.   JOY!!!
Here's one of them taking center stage on a "work in progress" collage necklace.  Isn't it awesome?!  I've already added more to it after taking this picture.  The craziness of it isn't for everyone, but I like it!
We had a great Easter at my parents house.  The Little Dude did his first Easter egg hunt and loved it.  Plus The Mom got him a Curious George stuffed animal that he's in LOVE with.  It's the cutest darn thing!
These two guys are so entertaining!  We could have watched them play all afternoon.  Viscous little animals.  : )
The Grandma and Grandpa came back from Arizona bearing gifts!  The afghan is super pretty, but what makes it extra special is that my Great Grandma crocheted it.  That's something we'll treasure forever.  And the Gooseberry!  Holy crap, it's awesome!  I already have the set in my collection (thanks to The Grandma also), so these guys will go in my booth (she knew that when she got them for me) to fancy up the joint.  I just love this pattern!  THANK YOU!!!

Come join in on the Instagram fun!  Every body is doing it.

Thrift Haul and Booth Update

Good gravy...have you ever just had one of those days were it seems like everything in your brain is negative and grumpy?  That's what I have going on right now.  Too many early mornings.  The Little Dude needs to get over this phase fast because I'm not going to last much longer!   Hopefully revisiting my fantastic haul with this post will help bring me out of my funk.
I have super mixed feelings about this beautiful set of Primaries.  The thrift decided to start putting their "collectible" Pyrex in the case with very high price tags.  That just pisses me off because it's a thrift store, not an antique shop.  Get over yourself.  Here's where I get conflicted.  It actually worked out for me.  I went in on half off day and there they were, still in the case, not separated or banged up, and most importantly - HALF OFF!  Ugh, I don't know...
At the same store mentioned above, I found these on the regular shelves.  And aside from having something yucky spilled on them they are perfect.  Not a single scratch.  So confused!  That adorable little ducky candle still has the Gurley tag on the bottom.

At one of the thrifts, an employee came up to tell me about these great table clothes (one is a Vera) she just put out.  "You look like someone who would like that kind of thing."  At first I was confused, then I realized I was wearing my Grandpa's old plaid work shirt, vintage jewelry, and a polka dotted scarf in my hair.  Yup, I totally looked like someone who would enjoy that kind of thing!  It was super nice of her.
These Libbey glasses came from the same store.  This is one of those, "I LOVE them, but can't keep everything" moments.  I listed them on Etsy.
Ain't she a beauty?!  And dang near perfect too.  It was a good week for me and Pyrex.

I walked into an estate sale with The Little Dude in one arm, spotted these Friendship bowls and walked out with them in the other!  Normally I wait to go without the kiddo (because he's heavy and grabby), but I knew this one was going to be good so I got there as early as I could.  I'm so glad I did, the orange one already sold!
I went back the next day and scored a few little odds and ends.  It was kind of surprising that the pink jar was still there on the second day.  The few bits of Christmas stuff had to be dug for, worth it though.  And keys, glorious keys!  They are quickly becoming my new favorite thing to collect.
This is my favorite find of the week, probably of the year actually.  I've always wanted one of these spools to use as a table.  And this one is in great shape and still has nice graphics on the top!  Now it just needs to stop snowing we could go out to the deck and actually enjoy it.
The antique mall had another vendor night last night so I took the time to change the chalkboard back to an old favorite and move things around.  It was really nice to have some chill, no grumpy ass kid whining at me time.  : )
So how has the start of the junking season been treating you guys?  Anyone score anything ridiculously cool yet? Speaking of ridiculously cool, did you see Melissa's suitcase bonanza?  Check it out here and enter her giveaway!  And, does anyone have any tips or advice to get a toddler to stay in bed past 5 am?  HELP!!!

This Past Week...

I got all crafty!  The insanely cool bakelite button was an antique store purchase and the key came from an estate sale a few weeks ago.  It's the perfect kind of statement necklace for me.
More keys!  They are quickly becoming about as bad bountiful and awesome as my button collection.
I bought these milk bottle lids from  Vintage Rescue Squad and decided to make some magnets out of them.  Inspiration for these came from magnets that Heidi at Vacuuming in High Heels and Pearls made, though hers were way cuter.
Ok, so this really grinds my gears.  This Pyrex is in the case at the thrift store and priced like it's at an antique store.  And that Forest Fancies is dishwasher damaged beyond repair.  THEY HAVE LOST THEIR DAMN MINDS!!!  Ok, now remember I said that...
Another one at a different store!  It's a conspiracy I tell you.
National Siblings Day was on Thursday so I posted this picture of me and the brothers from a year ago.  I love those two big butt heads!  Ugh...look at that bad hair cut!  What made me think I could pull off a pixie...frightening.
The Little Dude has been waking up before the butt crack of dawn (yeah, that's an actual time of day...just ridiculous) lately, and let me tell you, it's totally wearing on me.  I'm usually already up, but just not quite awake, and have yet to grab the life nectar that is coffee.  He talks a lot in the morning...  ; )  Needless to say, I felt like I deserved the beer and cupcake Friday afternoon.
Does anyone have any tips to get my 2 year old to stay in bed a little later?
This key cabinet!!!  OHMYGOSH, I freaking love this thing.  It was priced a bit high, but the vendor was willing to drop the price since it had been crowding her booth for a while.  It's going to get a fancy turquoise paint job this week and it will be glorious!
See that set of Primary bowls sitting on the right corner of the table in my booth?  Those are the over priced bowls I was bitching about a few pictures up!  They were still in the case on half off day and I snagged them up super fast.  It turned out to be a very good deal for me, which is awesome because Pyrex is getting pricier and pricier lately.  *Inserting foot in mouth*
That spool is my very favorite find of the week...ok, the year!  This one is super cool because it has nice graphic lettering on it and is in pretty good shape.  I think I'm going to keep it where it is and use it as a little table.
These colors are so fun together.  Spring has arrived in my house dangit, even if the SNOW outside disagrees.  Yup, it's snowing right now...

Do you Instagram?  No...come on man, we're all doing it!

The Past Few Weeks...

We went to Florida to go spend some time with my mother-in-law and she had these waiting for me!  Squeee, I think I'll keep her.  : )
This spider was the first bug to greet me.  He was dubbed Spike.  Terror Spider from Hell would have also worked.  He was pretty cool though and respected my space.
This was on the way down to a lagoon in Juno beach.  I've never seen anything like that before.  It was so lush, it felt like a rain forest.
We drove across Florida to Tampa to visit my family for a day and saw this awesome little spectacle of Airstreams. One day I will have one.  Oh yes...she will be mine.
Meet the highest looking goat in all of Lion Country Safari.
Fancy Flamingos!  I just love these.  Living kitsch!
This is a pond behind my MIL's condo on the golf course.  If you look really close, you can make out an alligator head in the middle.  In all the years I've been going to Florida, this was my first gator!  So cool!
Oh man...that kind of a view never gets old.  This was on Hutchinson Island.
Obligatory lizard picture.
So we had the screen door open and I was standing in the doorway taking pictures of these Sandhill Cranes and their baby.  The Little Dude went out to grab a toy, and didn't notice the birds.  They were pretty far away so I didn't think anything of it.  Well they felt differently apparently.  They yelled some horrible noise and ran at us, right as I was taking this picture.  The Little Dude screamed and ran inside while I struggled to get the screen door closed.  One stopped a foot short of the door and just stared at us, growling.  Crazy ass birds stocked us for like 10 minutes before finally moving on.
My new business cards were waiting at home for me.  I think they came out pretty cool.  What do you guys think?
Look at this globe!!!  It is AWESOME!!!  That base, the colors...perfect!  The Mom asked if it was for the booth, and I said, "hell no!"  I don't have space for another one though, so I'll have to trade one of my others out and send it to the booth.  Maybe...
Really?!  I'm so over this ridiculous pricing.  OUT OF CONTROL!
This gorgeous old necklace came home with me at half price.  Does anyone have a guess at what the stones might be?  The stones are more purple than this picture shows.  I was thinking lab created Bismuth or maybe Peacock ore (though it doesn't seem heavy enough for that).
A few weeks ago I purchased a bottle of wine for the label and won.  This week it was beer, and I didn't win or loose.  It was just meh.  Cool label though!

Have you jumped on the Instagram train yet?!   Come on, it's fun!

A Few Fun Estate Sale Finds

The thrifts have been a bit stingy for me lately.  Thank goodness for estate sale season!  I hadn't planned on driving out to this particular sale, but ended up with some time to kill on so I made the trek out there.
Squueeeeeeee!  Vintage Christmas!  The knee huggers have had a rough life, but they're still cute and will be great on a wreath.  Plus, check all those little bulbs!  These guys made the long drive totally worth it.
And it gets better.  That two hole punch is so cool.  I can't seem to find another example of it online.  Have you ever seen one before?  And the squirrel!  I'm pretty sure he's a dream pet, but his tag was ripped off so I'm not certain.
Can you believe there isn't a single Pyrex photo in either one of these magazines?!  That's ok though because that BH&G is FULL of  wonderful mid century furniture and decor. It's going to be so much fun to go through this with more time!  And the little cookbook on the right drew me in with it's cover.  It's from 1939.
The dude that ran this estate sale was pretty excited about this bait bucket.  He hadn't seen it and was surprised no one else had either.  I got the good stuff eagle eyes man!!!  Plus, the other side of it says "HI" so it kind of called to me.  Hi!

We just got back from a little vacation to Florida, and I have to tell you guys.  It's nice to be back, though I could have gone without the snow greeting!!!  It's like all my treasures were waiting to greet me when I got home.  It was a very warm and fuzzy feeling.  Do you find that you appreciate your vintage goodies and collections a bit more than usual after being away from home for a while?  I sure do!
